Health Minister Pankaj Singh says: Blood donation camp is a symbol of patriotism
New Delhi, January 2026 : The Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt Rekha Gupta, on Friday participated in a mega blood donation camp organised at Thyagaraj Stadium on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. She interacted with the people who had come forward to donate blood, encouraged them, and appreciated their spirit of service. Remembering Netaji, the Chief Minister said that his life continues to inspire the nation with the ideals of patriotism and sacrifice. Donating blood in his memory is one of the finest ways to serve humanity. Delhi’s Health Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh, along with a large number of citizens, representatives of voluntary organisations, and officials from the Health Department, were also present at the event.
At this grand blood donation camp, people participated with great enthusiasm. More than 1,000 citizens registered, and a total of 900 units of blood were collected. The Chief Minister expressed her gratitude to the blood donors for this noble act and presented them with donor kits as a token of appreciation. The kits included a jute bag, coffee mug, T-shirt, cap, and donor badge. She also presented certificates to all donors, acknowledging and applauding their spirit of service.
The Chief Minister said that the enthusiasm shown by people at the camp organised on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary was truly remarkable. On a simple appeal by the government, thousands came forward to donate blood. She particularly highlighted that despite adverse weather conditions and rainfall, people arrived in large numbers to donate blood. This reflects the deep respect Delhiites have for the nation’s great heroes and their dedication to national service. She said that with the resolve of “every drop of blood for the nation,” this initiative is not only a means to save the lives of those in need, but also a true tribute to Netaji’s ideals and commitment to the nation.
On this occasion, helmets were also distributed under a road safety campaign along with the blood donation drive, under the leadership of the Chief Minister. She said that saving lives is not limited to hospitals alone; safe behaviour on roads is equally important. She added that the objective of distributing helmets is to raise awareness among youth and the general public about traffic rules, so that loss of life due to road accidents can be prevented.
The Chief Minister commended the Health Department, doctors, nursing staff, voluntary organisations, blood donors, and all personnel associated with the event. She said that the Delhi Government is continuously working to strengthen healthcare services and ensure the availability of life-saving resources.
Speaking on the occasion, Health Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh said that the enthusiasm witnessed at the blood donation camp was highly inspiring. The campaign organised on the birth anniversary of the great hero Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose is a symbol of service and patriotism. The way youth and citizens are coming forward for voluntary blood donation reflects their sense of responsibility towards society. He said that the Delhi Government will continue to organise such camps in the future to ensure the timely availability of blood for patients in need. By providing helmets to blood donors, the government is also spreading a strong message of road safety, thereby reinforcing the commitment to both service and safety.
