New Delhi, July 2026: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday praised Dharmendra Pradhan for stepping down as Union Education Minister, describing the move as a reflection of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s commitment to placing national interest above personal office.
In a post on social media platform X, Shah said that for BJP workers, the nation, its youth, and students are always more important than any position. He said Pradhan’s resignation exemplified this principle and underscored the party’s commitment to accountability.
The Home Minister stressed that the Narendra Modi-led government respects the aspirations and concerns of the country’s youth and remains firmly committed to ensuring fairness and transparency in the examination system. He said the Centre has taken decisive steps to tackle examination paper leaks and strengthen the integrity of competitive examinations.
Shah also highlighted the Prime Minister’s decisions to introduce stringent measures against those involved in examination-related malpractices. He expressed confidence that the government’s actions would ensure justice for students who had successfully cleared the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) and reinforce public trust in the examination process.
Paying tribute to Pradhan’s tenure as Education Minister, Shah said he had played a key role in implementing the National Education Policy (NEP), expanding the network of PM SHRI schools, promoting digital learning, strengthening skill development initiatives, and improving collaboration between educational institutions and industry.
He further noted that Pradhan worked to make examinations more inclusive, transparent, and student-centric, adding that his tenure reflected a strong commitment to building a developed and knowledge-driven India.
Pradhan’s resignation comes amid nationwide protests over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and growing demands for greater accountability in the conduct of competitive tests. His departure marks a significant political development as the government seeks to address concerns surrounding examination integrity and restore confidence among students and parents.
The resignation has triggered varied political reactions. Opposition parties have described it as the outcome of sustained student protests and public pressure, while BJP leaders have projected it as an example of political accountability and the party’s willingness to place the interests of students and the nation above individual positions.
Team Maverick.
