Mumbai, September 2026 : The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday appointed Ajay Jamwal as the Maharashtra Pradesh BJP’s State General Secretary (Organisation), as part of a wider organisational reshuffle announced by party national president Nitin Nabin.
Jamwal, who was previously handling organisational responsibilities for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, will now be based in Mumbai. His appointment places him at the centre of the BJP’s organisational machinery in Maharashtra.
The party also appointed Satish Dhond as State Joint General Secretary (Organisation) for Maharashtra. Dhond will be based in Nagpur and has additionally been assigned responsibility for Janjati Sampark (tribal outreach) in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra.
The appointments are part of a larger exercise in which the BJP announced 24 organisational assignments across states and regions. The changes include national joint general secretaries (Organisation), state general secretaries (Organisation), state joint general secretaries and other organisational functionaries, with the appointments taking effect immediately.
Jamwal brings extensive organisational experience
Jamwal has held several organisational responsibilities within the BJP and its wider organisational network. Before taking charge in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, he worked in organisational roles across Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and the northeastern states.
He was appointed regional organisational general secretary for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in 2022. His move to Maharashtra now brings that experience to one of the BJP’s key state units.
The organisational general secretary is responsible for coordinating the party’s organisational activities and maintaining communication between different levels of the state unit. The post has traditionally had a close association with the RSS organisational structure.
Jamwal’s appointment also comes as part of a broader restructuring of the BJP’s organisational responsibilities across several states. In Maharashtra, Shivprakash has been assigned the portfolio of National Joint General Secretary (Organisation) for Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Goa, with Mumbai as his centre.
Dhond to be based in Nagpur
Dhond’s appointment gives him a dual organisational role. Besides serving as Maharashtra’s State Joint General Secretary (Organisation), he will handle Janjati Sampark responsibilities across four states.
His base in Nagpur places him in Vidarbha, while his wider tribal outreach assignment covers Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra.
The BJP’s latest appointments follow the announcement of state in-charges and co-in-charges a day earlier and form part of the party’s broader organisational restructuring.
The reshuffle has also resulted in changes in several other states. Madhukar has been appointed State General Secretary (Organisation) for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, while Dashrath has been named State Joint General Secretary (Organisation) for Telangana. Karmveer has been assigned Chhattisgarh and Chandrashekhar Madhya Pradesh.
In Maharashtra, Jamwal’s appointment and Dhond’s elevation bring a new organisational team to the state, with Mumbai and Nagpur serving as their respective centres.
