New Delhi, Aug 2026 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah met the Indian Mixed Disability Men’s Cricket Team in New Delhi following its return from England, where the team secured a memorable 4-3 series victory in the India-England Men’s Mixed Disability T20I Series 2026.
Shah congratulated the players for their determination and fighting spirit, saying their efforts to bring laurels to the country serve as an inspiration for India’s youth. In a post on X, he praised the team and wished the players success in their future endeavours.
The Indian team’s series triumph marked an important achievement for disability cricket and highlighted the growing recognition of athletes competing in the sport. The seven-match contest remained closely fought, with both teams producing impressive performances.
England opened the series with a 29-run victory on August 5. After scoring 159/4, the hosts restricted India to 130/9. India responded strongly two days later, securing a six-run win after posting 159 and restricting England to 147/4.
India then moved ahead in the series with another victory on August 9, winning by eight runs after successfully defending a total of 125/9.
England fought back in the fourth match on August 12, edging India by two runs while chasing a target of 118. The hosts then gained the upper hand by winning the next two matches on August 15 and 16, defeating India by 54 runs and 18 runs respectively.
With England leading 3-2 after six matches, India needed to win the final game to claim the series. The visitors responded with a determined performance on August 19, scoring 206/4 before restricting England to secure an 18-run victory.
The result gave India a 4-3 series win and capped an impressive international campaign.
Shah’s meeting with the players underscored the growing appreciation for disability cricket in India. The team’s performance in England not only delivered a significant sporting achievement but also demonstrated the determination, skill and competitive spirit of Indian athletes on the international stage.
