NEW DELHI, August, 2026 : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal stated that Union Home Minister Amit Shah directly intervened in the arrest of senior party leader and Punjab Sah-Prabhari Satyendar Jain. Questioning Amit Shah over the arrest, Arvind Kejriwal revealed an Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) officer had stated that there was no plan to arrest Satyendar Jain until the morning, but in the afternoon Amit Shah directly called the ACB and told them to arrest him, following which the arrest was made.
AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal took to 'X' and stated: “Union Home Minister Amit Shah must explain why he pressured the investigating agency to get Satyendar Jain arrested. An Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) officer said that until the morning, the ACB had no plan to arrest Satyendar Jain.”
He continued, “Then, in the afternoon, Amit Shah directly called and ordered the arrest. He was then arrested. Clearly, arrests are now being made not on the basis of whether someone has committed a crime or not, but on the basis of whom the two of them want to arrest.”
The AAP Chief stated, “A person is arrested when the police need to question and investigate that person. The police did not even take Satyendar Jain into custody. This means there weren't after questioning Satyendar Jain. He was arrested solely because of pressure from Amit Shah.”
