Andhra Pradesh Expands Clean Energy Push with Rs 10,500 Crore Wind Projects

Amaravati, Aug 2026 : Andhra Pradesh is accelerating its transition towards clean energy with the launch of 1,325 MW of wind power projects in Anantapur, reinforcing the state’s ambition to emerge as a major renewable energy hub and support its next phase of industrial growth.

The projects, involving an investment of around Rs 10,500 crore, are expected to generate approximately 1,600 direct and indirect employment opportunities. The initiatives were inaugurated by State Minister for Human Resources Development and IT Nara Lokesh, who said Andhra Pradesh was committed to developing a world-class clean energy ecosystem.

Lokesh said the launch marked an important milestone in the state’s renewable energy journey and reflected growing confidence among leading clean energy companies in Andhra Pradesh’s investment environment and progressive policies.

He said long-term partnerships with renewable energy companies would be crucial for accelerating clean energy development, attracting fresh investments and generating employment while establishing Andhra Pradesh as one of India’s leading clean energy destinations.

The minister also inaugurated an expanded smart blade manufacturing facility in Anantapur. The facility has added two new production lines, further strengthening the state’s renewable energy manufacturing capabilities and creating an integrated ecosystem around wind power generation.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed satisfaction over the launch of the new projects and the expansion of manufacturing activities in Anantapur.

Naidu said his association with the renewable energy sector went back several years and recalled the contribution of pioneers who believed in the potential of renewable energy well before it became a global priority.

He said those early investments and partnerships had demonstrated confidence in Andhra Pradesh and that the latest projects represented a continuation of that shared vision.

“Andhra Pradesh will continue to honour long-standing partnerships, keep its commitments, and build a clean, sustainable energy future for generations to come,” the Chief Minister said.

According to the state government, Andhra Pradesh has so far helped catalyse investments worth approximately Rs 15,500 crore in the wind energy sector and is currently executing around 1,600 MW of wind power projects.

The renewable energy manufacturing ecosystem in Anantapur is also expanding. The smart blade manufacturing facility has an annual production capacity of 1,260 MW and currently supports more than 1,200 direct and indirect green jobs.

Alongside infrastructure and manufacturing expansion, the state is focusing on developing a skilled workforce for the emerging green economy. Around 12,000 young people, including 3,000 women, are being trained through skill development laboratories located in Uravakonda and Vijayawada.

The state government said the combined focus on renewable power generation, equipment manufacturing and green skilling would help create a broader clean energy ecosystem while supporting industrialisation and employment.

With increasing investments in wind power and renewable manufacturing, Andhra Pradesh is seeking to position itself as a key destination for clean energy companies and contribute to India’s wider transition towards sustainable and low-carbon economic growth.
