Bhatti Vikramarka Raises Two Questions for Centre on Electoral Integrity and Indian IT Professionals in US

Hyderabad, Oct 2026  Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has asked the Centre to address two issues concerning electoral integrity in India and the position of Indian professionals working abroad, linking the Opposition’s allegations of “vote chori” with reports of US restrictions affecting major Indian IT companies.

In a post on social media platform X on Friday, the Congress leader referred to the protests led by Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi over alleged irregularities in electoral rolls and reports that the Trump administration had suspended Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, Wipro and other IT companies from a key Green Card certification programme.

“Two different crises of confidence. Two pressing questions for the Centre,” Vikramarka said, asking who safeguards the integrity of citizens’ votes and who stands up for Indian professionals abroad.

He added that India deserved answers on both issues, calling for accountability on electoral transparency and support for Indian professionals working overseas.

The Deputy Chief Minister had joined Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other Congress and INDIA bloc leaders at a protest at Raj Ghat in New Delhi on Thursday.

The demonstration demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Opposition leaders have raised concerns about the revision process and its implications for voters’ rights.

Following the protest, Vikramarka said his commitment to protecting democracy and constitutional values remained firm.

“Standing at Raj Ghat, on the sacred ground of the Father of the Nation, I reaffirm my solemn pledge to protect and preserve our democracy,” he wrote on X on Thursday, adding that he remained committed to justice, constitutional principles and public service.

In another post, he said the gathering at Raj Ghat reaffirmed the leaders’ commitment to the Constitution and the democratic rights of every Indian.

“The Constitution is our guiding light. The people’s vote is its strength. And protecting both is our solemn duty,” he said, reiterating the need for electoral transparency and accountability.

Two Questions Raised by Bhatti Vikramarka

  • Who safeguards the integrity of the Indian vote? The Deputy Chief Minister sought accountability over Opposition allegations of irregularities in the SIR exercise and called attention to concerns about electoral transparency.
  • Who stands up for Indian professionals abroad? He questioned the Centre’s response to reports of US action affecting major Indian IT companies and a Green Card-related certification programme.

Vikramarka’s remarks bring domestic electoral concerns and the interests of Indian professionals overseas into the same political debate, urging the Centre to respond to both issues.
