New Delhi, Sep 2026 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday announced a major organisational reshuffle, appointing in-charges and co-in-charges for all 28 states and eight Union Territories. The appointments, approved by party national president Nitin Nabin, take effect immediately.
The changes assign several senior leaders responsibility for more than one state and come as the BJP reorganises its state-level teams ahead of Assembly elections scheduled in several states in 2027.
Former Union minister and BJP national general secretary Smriti Irani has been appointed in-charge of both Chhattisgarh and Haryana. Siddharth Shambhu will assist her in Chhattisgarh, while Dr Bhola Singh has been named co-in-charge for Haryana.
In Maharashtra, BJP vice-president Baijayant Jay Panda has been appointed state in-charge, with Amit Malviya, Sadanand Shet Tanawade and Kamaljeet Sehrawat serving as co-in-charges.
For Uttar Pradesh, BJP national general secretary Vinod Tawde has been retained as in-charge, with Jagdish Patel, Medha Kulkarni, Pradeep Varma and Anant Ojha named as co-in-charges. Tawde had earlier been appointed to the Uttar Pradesh responsibility in August.
Sunil Bansal has been assigned responsibility for Telangana and West Bengal. Abhay Patil and Rekha Sharma will assist him in Telangana, while Lal Singh Arya, Rajendra Singh and Pinki Kushwaha have been named co-in-charges for West Bengal.
Ram Madhav has been given charge of Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand. In Uttarakhand, Arvind Menon and Bansuri Swaraj have been appointed co-in-charges. Harish Dwivedi will oversee Bihar and Karnataka, while Satish Poonia has been assigned Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab.
Biplab Kumar Deb has been appointed in-charge of Madhya Pradesh, with Rekha Verma as co-in-charge. Sanjay Bhatia will oversee Rajasthan, supported by Kavita Patidar and Kuljeet Chahal.
Mangal Pandey has been named Assam in-charge, while Arvind Bhadoria will handle Andhra Pradesh with Vanathi Srinivasan as co-in-charge. Tarun Chugh has been assigned Gujarat, while D. Purandeswari will oversee Odisha.
In Delhi, Vinay Sahasrabuddhe has been appointed in-charge, with Jamyang Tsering Namgyal and Darshana Jardosh as co-in-charges.
Other appointments include Gajendra Patel for Jharkhand, Shrikant Sharma for Himachal Pradesh, M. Nagaraj for Kerala, Rajdeep Roy for Manipur, Bhagwat Karad for Mizoram, K. Surendran for Puducherry, Raju Bista for Sikkim and Mriganka Deb Barman for Tripura.
Anil Antony has been appointed in-charge of Nagaland and will also serve as co-in-charge of Goa. The party has also named Jai Prakash for Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Devesh Kumar for Arunachal Pradesh, Rajkumar Bhatia for Ladakh and George Kurian for Lakshadweep.
The BJP has simultaneously made changes to its communication structure. Ashish Usha Agrawal has been appointed convenor of the national media department, while Anil Baluni has been named coordinator of the communication department covering the party's media and social media units.
The appointments were communicated to state presidents and organisational general secretaries as part of the BJP's broader restructuring of its organisational machinery.
