Jaipur, Sept 2026 :. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, rural development in the State has gained new energy. In the coming period, a large number of development works will be undertaken in villages across the State, with a focus on agriculture, road strengthening, employment and youth welfare. These initiatives will not only transform the face of villages but also work towards improving the lives of the people.
Chief Minister Sharma, while discussing rural development-related matters during a high-level meeting held at the Chief Minister’s Residence on Wednesday, said that Atal Gyan Kendra will be established in a phased manner at every Gram Panchayat headquarters with the objective of ensuring digital empowerment in rural areas and equal access to knowledge resources. These centres will provide rural youth with modern library and e-library facilities, where they will be able to prepare for competitive examinations as well as receive career guidance, employment-oriented training and information about government services.
3,219 km of roads to be constructed in villages across the State; connectivity to be strengthened
The Chief Minister said that around 3,219 km of roads will be constructed under the fourth phase of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) to improve road connectivity in rural areas. In 2026-27, construction of 1,500 km of roads will be completed. The remaining roads will be constructed in the following year. The Chief Minister said that cement concrete roads are being constructed in rural areas with a population of more than 5,000 under the Atal Pragati Path Scheme.
The Chief Minister said that a model should be developed for Rajasthan under the VB-G RAM G Scheme to ensure comprehensive and planned development of villages. He ordered the officials to give priority to better connectivity to schools, hospitals and other essential public institutions. The Chief Minister said that sports grounds will be developed at the Gram Panchayat level to provide rural youth with opportunities to advance in sports.
8,000 Diggis and 18,000 farm ponds to be constructed in fields
The Chief Minister said that, along with rural development, continuous emphasis is being laid on irrigation, energy and protected cultivation for the welfare of farmers, giving a new direction to the agricultural sector of the State. He said that subsidies will be provided to farmers for 50,000 agricultural machinery units this year. Similarly, to increase water availability and irrigation capacity at farms, 18,000 farm ponds and 8,000 Diggis will be constructed this year. To protect crops from damage caused by animals, farmers will also be provided subsidies for 2 crore metres of fencing.
The Chief Minister directed the Agriculture Department to continuously monitor the implementation of the schemes at the ground level.

Srinivas, Additional Chief Secretary (Chief Minister) Akhil Arora, Additional Chief Secretary, Public Works Department, Praveen Gupta, Principal Secretary, Agriculture and Cooperation, Manju Rajpal, Secretary, Rural Development, Krishna Kunal, Secretary, Panchayati Raj, Jogaram, and officials of the relevant departments were present at the meeting.
