Raipur, August 2026: With the Chintavagu River swelling due to heavy rains and its strong currents making movement difficult, a rescue team of the Nagar Sena’s District Disaster Response Force (DDRF) in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district stepped in to assist villagers stranded by the rising water levels.
The rescue team safely ferried an ailing woman, Vimla Anganpalli, from Gudipal village along with her family members across the swollen river and helped transport her to the Bijapur District Hospital for medical treatment.
Nagar Sena Team Uses Boat to Help Villagers Cross River
Continuous rainfall in Bijapur district has led to a sharp rise in the water levels of rivers and streams, disrupting transportation in several rural and remote areas. In response, the district administration and rescue teams have remained on alert to provide immediate assistance to affected residents.
Under the sensitive initiative of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and the guidance of Forest and District In-charge Minister Kedar Kashyap, special attention is being given to ensuring safe transportation and essential assistance for villagers facing difficulties due to the adverse weather conditions.
As part of these efforts, rising water levels in the Chintavagu River near Chinnakawali village in Bijapur tehsil made it extremely difficult for residents to cross the waterway. Assessing the situation, a Nagar Sena rescue team reached the spot and deployed a boat to safely transport villagers to the other side.
Sick Villagers Given Priority
Amid the strong currents in the Chintavagu River, Nagar Sena personnel operated the boat with extreme caution and maintained strict safety measures throughout the rescue operation.
The team gave priority to people who were unwell and ensured that they were transported safely across the river. The assistance enabled villagers to reach essential healthcare facilities and access timely medical treatment despite the difficult conditions.
The prompt response and dedication of the Nagar Sena personnel provided considerable relief to villagers during the heavy rains. The rescuers prioritised the safety of residents while helping them navigate the challenging conditions created by the swollen river.
Administration Stands With Villagers During Crisis
During the monsoon season, rising water levels in rivers and streams frequently disrupt connectivity in remote parts of the district. To address such situations, the district administration has kept disaster response and rescue teams on active standby so that immediate assistance can be provided whenever required.
The Nagar Sena’s intervention near Chinnakawali on the Chintavagu River was described as an example of the administration’s preparedness and sensitivity towards residents living in difficult-to-reach areas.
Villagers expressed their gratitude to the Nagar Sena personnel for coming to their assistance during the crisis and ensuring their safe passage.
In accordance with Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s vision, the state government is working to ensure that government assistance reaches people living in even the most remote areas during natural disasters and other emergencies.
Under the guidance of In-charge Minister Kedar Kashyap, the district administration has accorded priority to relief and rescue operations while taking necessary measures to protect villagers and ensure their safety during the ongoing rainy season.
