Inquires about the health of girl undergoing treatment after snakebite
Nagpur, August 2026: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday inspected various ongoing development works and medical facilities at the Government Medical College and Hospital (Medical) and Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (Mayo) in Nagpur and expressed satisfaction with the progress. He also inquired about the health of a girl from Japtalai in Gadchiroli district who is undergoing treatment after a snakebite.
The state government has allocated substantial funds for various development works at the two major government medical colleges and hospitals in Nagpur. Chief Minister Fadnavis visited the institutions to review the progress of these projects. Several facilities are being developed for patients and their relatives, along with modern medical infrastructure.
At Medical, the Chief Minister visited the NIC and PICU facilities and inaugurated the ventilator unit at the PICU. He also inspected the operation theatre and Surgical ICU and directed officials to accelerate the pace of the ongoing works.
Dean Dr Raj Gajbhiye briefed the Chief Minister about the various projects underway. Recently, a snakebite incident was reported at a tribal residential school in Japtalai village of Dhanora taluka in Gadchiroli district. One of the students affected by the incident is currently undergoing treatment at Medical Hospital in Nagpur.
Chief Minister Fadnavis met the girl and interacted with her mother. He also directed the doctors to ensure that the child receives proper and comprehensive medical care.
Deputy Dean Dr Devendra Mahore, Medical Superintendent Dr Avinash Gawande, MLA Mohan Mate and corporator Ritesh Gawande were present during the visit.
Inspection at Mayo Hospital
After visiting Medical, Chief Minister Fadnavis proceeded to the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (Mayo), where several major development projects are currently underway.
Dean Dr Ravi Chavan welcomed the Chief Minister. Fadnavis inspected the Medical Block, Surgical Block and operation theatres and interacted with officials regarding the ongoing works.
While expressing satisfaction over the work completed so far, the Chief Minister directed officials to further accelerate the pace of the remaining projects and ensure their timely completion.
Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Dr Vipin Itankar and District Collector Kumar Ashirwad were also present during the inspection.
