Uttarakhand’s people want stability and development; youth have a key role in building a developed India, says Chief Minister
Dehradun, Sept 2026 : Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday participated in a programme organised by Adda Insider newspaper on the theme ‘Uttarakhand — Development, Challenges and the Road to 2027’, at a hotel on Rajpur Road.
Speaking at the event, Dhami said his party’s guiding principle in public life has been “Nation First, Organisation Second and Individual Third”. He said the people of Uttarakhand want stability and development and asserted that the state government is working with full commitment towards the overall development of the state, while prioritising initiatives related to public welfare.
The Chief Minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a special attachment to Devbhoomi Uttarakhand and has visited the state 28 times since becoming Prime Minister. He said the Prime Minister has given renewed priority to the development of border areas.
Dhami recalled Modi’s visit to Mana, where the Prime Minister described border villages not as the “last villages” of the country but as its “first villages”. According to Dhami, this has helped bring a new perspective and approach towards the development of border areas.
The Chief Minister said Uttarakhand is progressing rapidly in various sectors under Modi’s guidance. He said the state has secured the first position nationally in the NITI Aayog Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Index and has received several national-level awards in the tourism sector.
Uttarakhand is also developing a distinct identity as a destination for film shootings, adventure tourism and weddings, Dhami said.
Referring to Prime Minister Modi’s vision of making India a developed nation by 2047, Dhami said the country’s youth would have a crucial role in achieving the goal. He said the state government is continuously working to provide young people with better education, skill development, employment and self-employment opportunities.
Dhami said he particularly enjoys interacting with young people and tries to meet them not merely as Chief Minister but as a friend. Such interactions, he said, provide an opportunity to understand their ideas, aspirations and energy, while also giving him fresh motivation.
The Chief Minister said a stringent anti-copying law has been implemented in the state to ensure transparency in government recruitment. He said the measure has strengthened the confidence of hardworking and deserving young people in the recruitment system.
According to Dhami, nearly 35,000 young people have been appointed to government services in Uttarakhand over the past five years.
He also said the state government was taking continuous action to preserve the original character of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand and free government land from illegal encroachments. More than 13,000 acres of government land has so far been freed from encroachment, he said.
Dhami said Uttarakhand is currently passing through a new phase of development and the government’s objective is to ensure that the benefits of development reach the last person in society. He added that efforts were also being made to create greater opportunities for the state’s youth to progress according to their talent and capabilities.
In line with the Prime Minister’s vision of a developed India, the state government is working continuously to build a developed and empowered Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister said.
