New Delhi, August 2026 : Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta on Thursday inaugurated the newly constructed two 2-lane slip road bridges over the Ghazipur Drain and Hindon Canal in Kondli, East Delhi. After the inauguration, the Chief Minister inspected the newly constructed bridges along with the dignitaries. She was briefed on the structure of the bridges, traffic arrangements and the work undertaken to improve connectivity in the area. Union Minister of State and East Delhi MP Shri Harsh Malhotra, Delhi Cabinet Minister Shri Parvesh Sahib Singh, Patparganj MLA Shri Ravindra Singh Negi and Trilokpuri MLA Shri Ravi Kant, among other dignitaries and senior officials, were present on the occasion.
Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra said that Delhi had seen a positive change in both its condition and direction since the government led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta came to power. Development works that had been pending for years have gained momentum, and Delhi is moving rapidly on a new path of development. Today, two newly constructed slip road bridges over a large drain in Kondli, East Delhi, were inaugurated by the Chief Minister. The construction of these bridges will provide thousands of residents of the Trilokpuri, Kondli and Patparganj Assembly constituencies with better road connectivity, smoother movement and a more convenient traffic system. The project will also play an important role in strengthening connectivity in the area and making movement easier for daily commuters.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the Delhi government is focused on developing infrastructure that directly and widely benefits the common people. Strengthening the road network, reducing traffic pressure and ensuring better connectivity between different parts of Delhi are among the government’s priorities. The Kondli project is another important step towards a better-connected, smoother and more developed Delhi. Work is being carried out continuously across different parts of Delhi to improve road infrastructure while also ensuring safe and smooth traffic movement.
The Chief Minister said the slip road project being inaugurated today had also been approved long ago, but the necessary processes required to take the work forward had not been completed. After the new government came to power in Delhi, the required NOCs and approvals were provided, funds were allocated again, and the project is now being dedicated to the public. Delhi had long needed modernisation of its drainage system. Despite the growing population and changing needs, adequate attention was not given to the improvement, desilting and maintenance of old drains and the drainage network. This resulted in waterlogging and inconvenience to citizens during the rains. The present government is working to strengthen the drainage system and find a permanent solution to the problem of waterlogging.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said this change was the result of the power of a single vote of the people. She said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central and Delhi governments are working together for the development of Delhi. The government’s effort is to ensure that policies are not merely formulated, but are also implemented effectively and within a time-bound framework.

Detailed Project Information
Under the project, two 2-lane slip road bridges have been constructed over the Ghazipur Drain and Hindon Canal at Kondli Bridge. Earlier, traffic coming from and going towards Kalyanpuri, Ghazipur and Noida would converge, often causing congestion during peak hours. With the new slip road bridges, traffic pressure and conflicts at the main intersection will be reduced, making the movement of vehicles smoother.
The new route will improve connectivity between Chand Cinema Road, Ghazipur Road and Kondli Bridge. This will benefit lakhs of people in Kondli, Kalyanpuri, Ghazipur and the Ghazipur Dairy Farm Road area by providing better road connectivity, an alternative route and saving travel time. The bridges have been built on strong foundations using 1,200-mm-diameter RCC cast-in-situ piles. Safe footpaths have also been constructed along the bridges using steel plate girders over the drains, making pedestrian movement easier and safer.
