Over one lakh registrations reflect growing public confidence in solar energy in Delhi, says Chief Minister Rekha Gupta

New Delhi, November 2026 : Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta on Wednesday shared the government's efforts to expand solar energy, promote clean energy and make solar power accessible to every household while speaking at the Solar Plenary Session of the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit and Expo at Bharat Mandapam. She said that under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the country is making rapid progress in clean and renewable energy. The Delhi government, moving in step with the Centre, is equally committed to giving the capital a new identity in the field of clean energy. Union Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi was also present on the occasion.

The Chief Minister said that the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is an important initiative towards achieving energy self-reliance. Taking this vision forward, the Delhi government is encouraging people to install rooftop solar systems. Rooftop solar systems of up to 3 kW are being installed free of cost in Delhi, while subsidies of up to ₹1.56 lakh are being provided for systems with higher capacity. So far, around one lakh people in Delhi have registered to adopt solar energy, reflecting growing public confidence and awareness about clean energy.

CM Rekha Gupta said the government's aim is to make every rooftop in the capital a source of clean energy, provide relief to every household in its electricity bills and make Delhi an example for the rest of the country in the field of solar energy. As India moves forward rapidly towards clean and renewable energy, Delhi will also be part of this transformation, keeping pace with the country.

She further said that bringing representatives, experts and industry leaders from across the country and the world onto a common platform is important for shaping the future of clean energy. The entire world is moving forward in this field by working together. The Delhi government is making continuous efforts to expand clean energy, promote energy self-reliance and protect the environment. Its endeavour is to ensure that solar energy does not remain merely a technological initiative but becomes a part of everyday life for every household in Delhi.
