Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation Organises Webinar on World Tourism Day
Mumbai, Sept 2026 : The importance of artificial intelligence (AI) is growing rapidly in the tourism sector, and it can be effectively used in tourism services, communication, service delivery and day-to-day business operations, said Anand Mahurkar, founder and CEO of Findability Sciences, USA.
The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), in association with the state government's Tourism Department, organised a special webinar on ‘Artificial Intelligence for Beginners’ on the occasion of World Tourism Day. The webinar was organised in line with this year's World Tourism Day theme, ‘Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism’. MTDC Managing Director Nilesh R. Gatne participated in the programme online.
Mahurkar explained the basic concepts of artificial intelligence and highlighted its growing significance and potential applications in the tourism sector. Harshvardhan Jaju, Director of Nath School of Business and Technology, shared his views on emerging technologies and the rapidly changing digital landscape.
The initiative was organised under the leadership of Tourism Minister Shambhuraj Desai and Minister of State for Tourism Indranil Naik, and under the guidance of Tourism Department Additional Chief Secretary Sanjay Khandare and MTDC Managing Director Nilesh R. Gatne.
Officials and employees from the MTDC headquarters, regional offices, tourist residences, boating centres, restaurants, visitor centres, Kalagram and the Engineering Department participated in the webinar. Stakeholders from the tourism sector and representatives of tourism associations were also encouraged to participate in the programme.
MTDC General Manager Chandrashekhar Jaiswal and Head of the Business Development Department Mansi Kothare were responsible for organising and implementing the webinar. Sanjay Dekhane proposed the vote of thanks.
