Amravati, Sept 2026 : The Election Commission of India has announced the election for one member from the Amravati Division Teachers’ Constituency to the Maharashtra Legislative Council. Following the announcement, the Divisional Commissioner and Returning Officer for the Amravati Division Teachers’ Constituency has issued the formal election notice.
Candidates or any of their proposers can submit nomination papers to the Returning Officer and Divisional Commissioner, Amravati Division, Amravati, or to the Assistant Returning Officer and Joint Commissioner (General Administration), Divisional Commissioner’s Office, Amravati.
Nomination papers can be filed on any day, except public holidays, up to Tuesday, October 6, 2026, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at Hall No. 2 on the ground floor of the Divisional Commissioner’s Office, Camp, Amravati. Nomination forms will also be available at the same venue and during the specified hours.
The scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted from 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Hall No. 2 on the ground floor of the Divisional Commissioner’s Office, Camp, Amravati. The scrutiny will be conducted by the Returning Officer for the Amravati Division Teachers’ Constituency and Divisional Commissioner, Amravati Division.
Candidates wishing to withdraw their nominations may submit a notice of withdrawal to any of the designated officers at their respective offices by 3 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026. Such notice may be submitted by the candidate, any proposer authorised in writing by the candidate, or the candidate’s election agent.
If the election is contested, polling will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to the election notice.
The election notice has been displayed at the offices of the Returning Officer, District Collector and Assistant Returning Officer, as well as the Deputy District Election Officers in Amravati, Akola, Buldhana, Yavatmal and Washim districts.
Instructions have also been issued for displaying the notice at the offices of all Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officers, Sub-Divisional Officers, Tehsildars, Municipal Commissioners, municipalities, Panchayat Samitis and Gram Panchayats across the division.
Divisional Commissioner and Returning Officer for the Amravati Division Teachers’ Constituency, Nayna Gunde, said the necessary directions regarding publication of the election notice had been issued to the concerned authorities.
