Farmers Urged to Embrace Crop Diversification, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry alongside Traditional Farming: CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that new technological innovations have opened new avenues of prosperity in agriculture. In the coming years, the agriculture sector will open new avenues of employment and prosperity for rural youth. He called upon farmers to adopt crop diversification, horticulture and animal husbandry alongside traditional farming. The Chief Minister said that farmers can multiply their income by supplementing crop production with dairy farming and fisheries.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was virtually addressing the Balaram Krishi Mahotsav organised in Ashoknagar from Samatva Bhavan at the Chief Minister’s residence.

Ashoknagar’s Farmers Are Setting Example for Farmers Through Hard Work

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that farmers in Ashoknagar are setting an inspiring example for through hard work and dedication. The Chanderi saree has given Madhya Pradesh a global identity, while Ashoknagar’s Sharbati wheat is renowned for its distinctive taste and is in demand across the country. He said it is encouraging that farmers in the district are increasingly taking interest in horticultural crops such as coriander and roses. Despite the challenge of low rainfall, farmers in Ashoknagar have turned adversity into opportunity by expanding the area under paddy transplantation through DRS technology. Crop diversification has also led to an increase in the area under gram and lentils in the district.

The Role of Soldier at Border and Farmer in Field is Equally Important

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that farmers, women, the poor and youth are the four key sections for the State Government. Only when farmers are prosperous and happy can society as a whole remain secure in terms of food and economic well-being. The role of a soldier guarding the nation’s borders and that of a farmer working in the fields is equally important, as both are dedicated to the nation. He said the State Government is working with full sensitivity and commitment for farmers’ welfare. As a result, the entire year is being observed as Krishak Kalyan Varsh.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the very essence of a farmer is self-reliance. Farmers possess the strength to provide food not only for their families but also for society as a whole through their own efforts. He said that work is underway across the State to make farming profitable by ensuring electricity and water supply, along with road connectivity to farms. For the convenience of farmers, a system has been introduced to facilitate clearance of their accounts once a year. Farmers will also receive compensation equivalent to four times the value of agricultural land acquired for projects.

Several Initiatives and Benefits Being Extended to Farmers by the State Government

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that various initiatives are underway to increase the State’s share of milk production from 12% to 20%. Farmers will be provided adequate electricity during the daytime in the coming months. He said that the Ladli Behna Yojana and Kisan Samman Nidhi have helped improve the living standards. Subsidies are also being provided to farmers to facilitate the installation of 5, 7 and 10 HP electric pumps for irrigation. The Chief Minister described these measures as the State Government’s support to farmers.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that several benefits are being extended to farmers by the State Government. Along with Sandipani Vidyalayas, primary and middle schools are also being improved. He reaffirmed that the State Government is committed to securing and empowering the future generation of farmers.

CM Dr. Yadav Extends Greetings to Farmers on Upcoming Festivals

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav extended greetings to farmers on the occasion of Janmashtami, Balaram Jayanti and Raksha Bandhan, among other upcoming festivals. He also interacted virtually with farmers attending the Balaram Krishi Mahotsav in Ashoknagar.

MLA Shri Hemant Khandelwal and farmer Shri Jaipal Chawda were present. Mungaoli MLA Shri Brijendra Singh Yadav and Kisan Morcha District President Shri Dharmveer Raghuvanshi expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Dr. Yadav for various development initiatives and benefits extended to Ashoknagar.
