Jalna, Sept 2026 : Environment and Climate Change, Animal Husbandry Minister and Jalna district Guardian Minister Pankaja Gopinath Munde inspected crop conditions in areas facing a drought-like situation due to inadequate rainfall.
Munde visited farms in Kadegaon, Gevrai Bazar and Gokulwadi in Badnapur taluka, as well as fields in the Ganeshnagar area of Jalna taluka, to assess the condition of crops. She also interacted with farmers and heard about the difficulties they are facing.
During her visit to Jalna and Badnapur talukas, Munde said the condition of the damaged crops was serious based on what she had seen on the ground. However, she urged farmers not to lose heart and assured them that the state government was taking all necessary measures to address the drought-like situation.
She said the state government had taken several decisions to provide relief to farmers in view of the severity of the situation. These measures include a waiver of land revenue, restructuring of crop loans, a moratorium on the recovery of agricultural loans and concessions on current electricity bills for agricultural pumps.
Munde said administrative-level planning was also being undertaken to ensure drinking water and fodder for livestock.
In areas facing severe fodder shortages, immediate steps are being planned to establish fodder depots. The government is also working on a policy for the appropriate use of fallow agricultural land for fodder-related requirements, she said.
The Guardian Minister said the state government was making every possible effort to help farmers and agricultural labourers overcome the crisis.
She also said that distribution of relief funds was being expedited to all eligible farmers whose bank accounts have no technical issues.
MLAs Arjun Khotkar and Narayan Kuche, Additional Collector Ramesh Misal, District Superintendent of Agriculture Gahinath Kapse, Badnapur Sub-Divisional Officer Lata Bagul and other officials and employees were present during the visit.
