New Delhi, Aug 2026 : Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda is stable and under observation at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, after experiencing uneasiness on Thursday evening, the hospital said on Friday.
According to an official statement issued by AIIMS New Delhi on August 14, Nadda was brought in for medical evaluation on the evening of August 13. As part of the assessment, doctors conducted several tests, including a coronary angiography, to evaluate his condition.
“J.P. Nadda, Hon'ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare, was evaluated for uneasiness with tests including a coronary angiography on the evening of 13th August 2026. He is currently stable and admitted for observation in the Department of Cardiology,” AIIMS said in its statement, signed by Dr (Prof.) Rima Dada.
The hospital did not disclose the specific nature of the uneasiness that prompted Nadda’s admission. It also did not provide details of the findings from the coronary angiography or indicate whether any further treatment was required.
Nadda remains admitted in the cardiology department, where doctors are monitoring his condition. The hospital has so far not issued a specific diagnosis or indicated how long he is expected to remain under observation.
The development comes as Nadda continues to handle his responsibilities as Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilisers. He has been actively engaged in government work in recent weeks, chairing meetings and reviewing healthcare programmes, infrastructure projects and other initiatives across the country.
What Is Coronary Angiography?
Coronary angiography is a commonly used diagnostic procedure to examine the blood vessels supplying blood to the heart. During the test, doctors introduce a thin catheter through an artery, usually in the wrist or groin, and guide it towards the coronary arteries.
A contrast dye is then injected into the blood vessels. X-ray imaging allows doctors to observe the flow of blood through the arteries and identify any narrowing or blockages.
The procedure can help physicians assess whether a patient may have coronary artery disease or other problems affecting blood flow to the heart. Depending on the findings and the patient's overall condition, doctors may recommend medication, further monitoring or procedures such as angioplasty or stent placement.
However, AIIMS has not indicated that Nadda has been diagnosed with coronary artery disease or that he requires any such intervention.
For now, the hospital has described his condition as stable and said he is being kept under observation in the cardiology department. Further updates are expected if doctors determine that additional treatment or evaluation is necessary.
