Raipur, October 2026: The Chhattisgarh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, has increased the benchmark for calculating the sugarcane bonus from ₹355 to ₹425 per quintal, providing significant financial relief to sugarcane farmers across the state.

The decision, taken through the special efforts of Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, will enable sugarcane farmers to receive bonuses calculated at the revised rate.

As a result, 14,961 farmers who supplied sugarcane to the Bhoramdev Cooperative Sugar Producers Mill Limited at Ramhepur in Kawardha during the 2025–26 crushing season will receive a total bonus of approximately ₹24.55 crore.

For the 2025–26 crushing season, the Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) of ₹329.05 per quintal has been taken as the basis for bonus calculations. Under the revised benchmark of ₹425 per quintal, farmers will receive a bonus of ₹95.95 per quintal after deducting the FRP.

During the 2025–26 crushing season, the Bhoramdev Cooperative Sugar Mill processed a total of 25,58,188 quintals of sugarcane. At the rate of ₹95.95 per quintal, the total bonus payable works out to approximately ₹24.55 crore. The amount will benefit farmers who supplied sugarcane to the mill.

The four cooperative sugar mills in Chhattisgarh collectively crushed 53,25,120 quintals of sugarcane during the 2025–26 season. Based on this quantity, a total of 31,022 sugarcane-selling farmers across the state will receive bonus payments amounting to approximately ₹51.09 crore.

The state government’s decision ahead of Navratri has brought cheer to sugarcane farmers. The increased bonus will provide them with additional financial support, helping them meet cultivation expenses, carry out agricultural activities on time and prepare better for the next crop season.

The decision has also generated happiness among sugarcane farmers in Kabirdham district. Farmers have expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma for increasing the benchmark used to calculate the sugarcane bonus.

The enhanced bonus is expected to ease the financial burden on farmers by helping them cover farming costs and prepare for the upcoming agricultural season.
