Beneficiary women in Dakaipara village of Khairi take responsibility for organising Durga Puja and express gratitude to the Chief Minister
Korea, October 2026: During Sharadiya Navratri, the festival dedicated to the worship of women’s power, beneficiaries of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana have taken an initiative to promote collective participation. In Dakaipara, located in Khairi village of Patna tehsil in Korea district, women contributed from the financial assistance received under the scheme to install an idol of Goddess Durga.
Every year, villagers in Khairi-Dakaipara have traditionally come together to install an idol of Goddess Durga during Sharadiya Navratri. This year, however, women benefiting from the Mahtari Vandan Yojana united and took responsibility for installing the idol and organising the Durga Puja celebrations themselves.
Savitri Sonwani, president of the Durga Puja Mahila Samiti, and Arpana Mishra, the committee’s secretary, said Navratri is a festival dedicated to the worship of feminine power. Inspired by this sentiment, the women of the village collectively decided to install the idol of Goddess Durga and organise the celebrations on a grand scale this year. To make this possible, they contributed a portion of the financial assistance received under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana.
The women said that service can be performed in many ways. Guided by this belief, they came together and resolved to participate actively in the village’s religious celebrations. For them, the initiative has become an opportunity to express their faith while sharing responsibility and working collectively.
Expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister, the women said the Mahtari Vandan Yojana had provided them with financial support. With the help of this assistance, they have been able to contribute to the organisation of the Navratri festival this year.
Their initiative not only helps carry forward the village’s religious traditions but also reflects women’s unity and collective participation in community activities.
