KTR Challenges Revanth Reddy to Judicial Probe Into Family Assets

BRS working president says he is ready for scrutiny by a sitting Supreme Court judge and questions the Chief Minister over his family’s business dealings and the government’s record on farmers and welfare promises.

Hyderabad, Oct 2026 : Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on Thursday challenged Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to agree to an inquiry by a sitting Supreme Court judge into the assets of both their families, escalating the political exchange that followed the Chief Minister’s remarks at a public meeting in Sircilla.

Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR, said he was prepared to face a comprehensive investigation into his family’s assets and asked whether Revanth Reddy was willing to submit his family’s assets to similar scrutiny. He said the inquiry should cover the financial and property records of both families across generations.

“Investigate everything, from our grandfathers’ assets to your grandfathers’ assets,” Rama Rao said while responding to the allegations made by the Chief Minister during his Sircilla visit on Wednesday.

He was speaking at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad during a programme where several Congress and BJP leaders and activists from the Armur constituency joined the BRS.

Rama Rao defended his family background and his own business interests, saying his grandfather had owned hundreds of acres of land. He said his father, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, was first elected an MLA in 1985 and subsequently served as a minister, Deputy Speaker, Union Minister and Chief Minister.

Rama Rao said he had worked in the United States for six years before returning to India and starting a hotel business in Hyderabad in 2006. He maintained that details of his assets and business interests had already been disclosed in his 2009 election affidavit.

He questioned why the same information was now being raised as though it represented a new discovery and argued that running a business was not itself evidence of wrongdoing.

Rama Rao said the hotel business he started had subsequently expanded to three hotels. He added that had he remained outside politics, he could have expanded the business further.

Turning his attack towards the Chief Minister, Rama Rao questioned business dealings, tenders and land transactions involving members of Revanth Reddy’s family and close associates. He specifically raised questions over a high-value tender allegedly awarded to a company associated with the Chief Minister’s brother-in-law, Srujan Reddy, and questioned the qualifications and opportunities available to Revanth Reddy’s brother, Kondal Reddy.

These allegations were made by Rama Rao as part of his political response to the Chief Minister’s remarks and have not been independently established.

Rama Rao also questioned the government’s handling of several investigations and commissions initiated after the Congress came to power. Referring to the Kaleshwaram project and power purchase agreements, he asked what conclusions had emerged from the inquiries. He also raised the Formula-E case and other investigations involving financial transactions.

The BRS leader then shifted his focus to the Congress government’s performance, alleging that it had failed to fulfil commitments made to farmers, handloom workers, youth, Backward Classes, Dalits and minorities.

He alleged that farmers in several parts of Telangana were facing difficulties over electricity supply, Rythu Bandhu payments and availability of urea. He also criticised the government over the situation of handloom workers in Sircilla and other parts of the state.

Rama Rao accused the Congress government of raising allegations against the BRS leadership to divert attention from its electoral commitments, including the “Six Guarantees” and what he referred to as the party’s “420 promises”.

The political confrontation comes amid heightened exchanges between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS, with both sides trading allegations over governance, assets and the implementation of election promises. Revanth Reddy had criticised the KCR family during his Sircilla visit and raised questions about Rama Rao’s assets.

Rama Rao reiterated that he was ready to face an independent judicial inquiry and challenged the Chief Minister to agree to the same scrutiny of both families.
