Raipur, Sept 2026: Farmers in the Bhatgaon Assembly constituency have received a major boost following the efforts of Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Rajwade, with administrative approval granted for the opening of new paddy procurement centres in Bundiya and Badsara villages of Bhaiyathan development block in Surajpur district.
The Chhattisgarh Government’s Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection has formally issued an order approving the establishment of the two new procurement centres.
Farmers in the area had been demanding the opening of nearby paddy procurement centres for several years. During her visits to the Bhatgaon Assembly constituency, villagers and farmers had apprised Minister Rajwade of the difficulties they faced in transporting their produce to procurement centres located far from their villages.
The farmers pointed out that travelling to distant centres not only consumed considerable time but also imposed an additional financial burden in the form of transportation and other expenses.
Taking note of their concerns, Minister Rajwade wrote to Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Dayaldas Baghel, requesting approval for new paddy procurement centres at Bundiya and Badsara.
Following her efforts, the state government has approved the establishment of both centres for the Kharif Marketing Year 2026-27 and subsequent years, providing a significant relief to farmers in the region.
The new procurement centre at Bundiya will be established under the Adivasi Seva Cooperative Society Maryadit, Batra, while the centre at Badsara will function under the Adivasi Seva Cooperative Society Maryadit, Shivprasadnagar.
Farmers to Benefit from Reduced Costs and Travel
The opening of the new centres will eliminate the need for farmers to transport their paddy over long distances to sell their produce. This is expected to reduce expenditure on transportation, tractor rentals and other associated costs while saving farmers valuable time and effort.
With weighing and procurement facilities available locally, farmers will also be able to complete the procurement process more conveniently. The availability of nearby centres is expected to make the purchase of paddy smoother and more accessible for farmers.
The government’s decision has generated considerable enthusiasm among farmers and villagers in the area. Expressing their gratitude to Minister Lakshmi Rajwade, farmers said that having procurement centres closer to their villages would provide substantial relief when selling their produce.
They described the approval as an important initiative in the interest of farmers and said the new facilities would help reduce the difficulties associated with transporting paddy to distant procurement centres.
The establishment of the two centres is expected to strengthen local procurement infrastructure while providing practical and financial relief to farmers in the Bhatgaon constituency.
