MoUs to Be Signed Between Charitable Organisations and Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Cell: CM Devendra Fadnavis

Chief Minister Takes Initiative to Ensure Better Facilities for Patients’ Attendants

Mumbai, August 2026: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has taken an initiative to improve facilities and support services for patients and their family members who travel to major hospitals across the state for treatment. He has directed that Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) be signed between various charitable organisations that assist patients’ attendants and the Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Cell.

Thousands of patients and their family members visit major hospitals every day for medical treatment. In many cases, patients’ relatives face considerable difficulties due to the high cost of treatment, lack of affordable accommodation and food, and inadequate guidance and support. Keeping these challenges in mind, the state government has decided to bring all relevant stakeholders under one umbrella and establish a streamlined and transparent support mechanism.

Through these agreements, assistance provided by charitable hospitals and various voluntary organisations can reach patients and their family members directly and in a timely manner. Hospitals operating under the supervision of the Charity Commissioner provide free or subsidised treatment to economically disadvantaged patients. The Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Cell will now be integrated into this process to bring greater coordination, efficiency and transparency to the system.

Under the initiative, arrangements for accommodation, free or affordable meals, and medical guidance for patients’ attendants will be strengthened around major hospitals. The primary objective is to reduce the difficulties faced by ordinary citizens while accessing healthcare services and to simplify administrative procedures for patients and their families.

The initiative is expected to provide significant relief to thousands of poor and needy patients and their families across Maharashtra.

The collaboration between charitable organisations and government agencies is also expected to create a model healthcare assistance system in the state. With the support of charitable trusts, various tripartite Memoranda of Understanding will be entered into to ensure that the benefits of these services reach patients directly.

Chief Minister Fadnavis has appealed to charitable organisations and institutions to participate in the initiative. He said all relevant details have been made available on the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) website, and organisations have been encouraged to register their participation and contribute to the programme.
