‘Murderer of Democracy’ Gyanesh Kumar’s Lie Caught in Supreme Court: Manish Sisodia

New Delhi, Oct 2026 : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a sharp attack on Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar following the Supreme Court’s clarification regarding Form 6. Senior AAP leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said the “lie” of Gyanesh Kumar, whom he described as a “murderer of democracy”, had finally been exposed in the Supreme Court.

Sisodia said the Supreme Court had made it clear that it had not permitted any changes to Form 6. He claimed this showed that Kumar had made changes to the form on his own, without seeking the consent of the other two Election Commissioners, and had put the country’s democracy at stake at the behest of the BJP.

Sisodia said the issue had led members of Gen-Z across the country to take to the streets and alleged that the Supreme Court had once again exposed Kumar’s actions.

He said the court had clearly stated that it had not authorised the changes made by the Election Commission to Form 6. According to Sisodia, this meant Kumar had neither obtained the court’s permission nor consulted the other two Election Commissioners before making the changes.

Sisodia further alleged that Kumar’s press release had claimed that the changes to Form 6 were being made after approval from the Supreme Court.

He alleged that the Election Commission had invoked the Supreme Court’s name while making the changes and had misrepresented the court’s position. He also claimed that changes were made to Form 6, which is used for registering new voters, in a manner that made it difficult for ordinary citizens to get their names added to electoral rolls.

Sisodia said the controversy over the changes was among the issues that had prompted Gen-Z to protest. He questioned whether Kumar should be arrested and whether impeachment proceedings should be initiated against him.

‘Gyanesh Kumar Caught in His Own Trap’: Saurabh Bharadwaj

Meanwhile, AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj said Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar was getting caught in a trap of his own making.

Bharadwaj said several opposition parties and social organisations had alleged that changes were made to Form 6, used for enrolment of new voters, in violation of the law. He claimed the changes were intended to make it difficult for around 13 crore people whose names had allegedly been deleted from electoral rolls to get their names restored.

He said the Election Commission, in its September 26, 2026, press note, had claimed that the changes were being made in accordance with a Supreme Court order. However, Bharadwaj claimed that when the matter came before the Supreme Court, the court made it clear that it had not issued any such order.

Bharadwaj questioned whether the Election Commission had “fallen so low” that it would allegedly invoke the Supreme Court’s name to make false claims, face contempt proceedings, alter Form 6 contrary to law and deprive citizens of their voting rights.

He also alleged that the Election Commission removed the press note from its website after the matter came to light.

Bharadwaj demanded Kumar’s immediate resignation, alleging that his actions were damaging the reputation of the constitutional institution and the country’s democratic system.

He said that if Kumar did not resign, people from across the country would gather at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on October 10 for a peaceful protest.

In a post on X, Bharadwaj also alleged that the Election Commission had faced embarrassment in the Supreme Court and said Kumar should face contempt proceedings over the Form 6 issue.
