Raipur, October 2026: Nyaydhani Knights moved closer to securing a semi-final berth in the Chhattisgarh Hockey League with an impressive 4-1 victory over Bailadila Bulls, registering their third consecutive win to climb to the top of the points table.
In the presence of Deputy Chief Minister and Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Arun Sao, the Knights continued their unbeaten run, while Bailadila Bulls remained at the bottom of the standings without a win so far.
The match brought together two teams known for their strong defensive performances. Unlike the high-scoring encounters witnessed elsewhere in the league, both sides displayed disciplined defending, particularly in the opening quarter, which ended without a goal.
The contest eventually turned on a defensive lapse by Bailadila Bulls in the second quarter. A penalty corner awarded to the Knights provided Chirag with the opportunity to open the scoring, and he converted it with a powerful drag-flick. Close to half-time, Chirag struck again with a similar effort, extending his team's advantage.
Bailadila Bulls responded through Jaskaran, who deflected the ball into the net to reduce the deficit. The goal brought the score to 2-1 at half-time, keeping Bailadila in contention.
The third quarter witnessed another crucial moment when an unnecessary stick-check infringement resulted in a penalty corner for the Knights. However, experienced goalkeeper Surender, a bronze medallist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, demonstrated his outstanding penalty-corner defending skills.
Standing firm in front of the goal, Surender stopped a fiercely struck drag-flick with the centre of his stick, denying Bailadila a chance to draw level and demonstrating why he remains one of the most accomplished defenders against penalty corners.
At the other end, Chirag continued to dominate with confidence and composure. He completed his hat-trick towards the end of the third quarter, strengthening the Knights' position and putting them firmly in control of the match.
With Bailadila Bulls struggling to find a way back into the contest, Ketan Kushwaha added another goal with a spectacular tomahawk shot late in the match, sealing the Knights' comprehensive 4-1 victory.
The match was marked by disciplined defending, effective penalty-corner execution and clinical finishing from the Knights. Chirag was rewarded for his outstanding performance by winning both the ‘Striker of the Match’ and ‘Player of the Match’ awards.
With three consecutive victories, Nyaydhani Knights have strengthened their position at the top of the Chhattisgarh Hockey League points table and moved closer to the semi-finals.
The Knights will next face Chakradhhar Champions on October 27, while Bailadila Bulls will look to register their first victory when they take on Sanskardhani Strikers on October 26.
