Jaipur, September 2026: Rajasthan Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma on Wednesday reached western Rajasthan as part of his two-day visit to the state’s border areas. The DGP visited border police stations, Border Out Posts (BOPs) and villages to review security arrangements and interacted with police personnel deployed along the international border.
DGP Inspects Nokh Police Station, Stresses Better Policing
As part of his scheduled programme, DGP Sharma visited the border Nokh Police Station in Phalodi on Wednesday morning. He said that as the police station is located in a remote area near the international border, personnel should work with determination to tackle drug trafficking, cybercrime and crimes related to solar companies while ensuring public cooperation.
He reviewed policing arrangements in the area and interacted with police personnel to boost their morale. He appreciated the personnel for discharging their important responsibility of protecting citizens despite challenging circumstances.
The DGP directed officials to ensure better facilities at the reception area of the police station and urged police personnel to behave politely and cooperatively with members of the public as first responders. He said every person visiting the police station should leave satisfied.
National Interest Must Remain Paramount: DGP
DGP Sharma visited Jaluawala village, where he held a border dialogue and public hearing. He appealed to villagers to keep the national interest above all else and remain vigilant. He urged them to immediately inform the nearest police post or police station about any suspicious activity.
He said the police should maintain effective surveillance over every activity in the border areas and ensure a prompt response whenever information about suspicious activity is received.
Better Coordination With Local Residents
During the public hearing and border dialogue, the DGP directed police personnel to maintain regular communication with local residents and ensure speedy resolution of their problems.
He said that since the population in the border areas is relatively sparse, every beat constable should have the contact number of at least one person from each family in the village. Similarly, villagers should have the contact number of their respective beat constable.
He called for coordinated efforts between the police and local residents to prevent crime and drug abuse. He also urged officials to conduct awareness programmes to educate people about the harmful effects of drugs.
Sharma said important information on cyber security, the harmful effects of drugs, women’s safety and other issues is regularly shared through the Rajasthan Police’s social media accounts. He directed officials to circulate such information through village-level groups so that awareness reaches people at the grassroots level.
DGP Interacts With BSF Personnel at Raichand Wala BOP
The DGP interacted with Border Security Force personnel at the Raichand Wala Border Out Post along the international border. He sought feedback on security, surveillance and issues related to their duties.
He encouraged the personnel serving the nation under difficult circumstances and said effective coordination between the BSF and Rajasthan Police would continue. He assured officials that the Rajasthan Police would remain ready to provide cooperation and consider suggestions from the BSF.
He also inspected the border area and received feedback from BSF officials.
Public Grievances Heard, Officials Directed to Act
Sharma stressed the need to strengthen security arrangements in border areas while maintaining continuous coordination between the police and local residents. He directed police personnel to discharge their duties with alertness and sensitivity.
He conducted public hearings in villages falling under different police station jurisdictions and directed officials to take appropriate action on the grievances received.
At Jaluawala Gram Panchayat, he said continuous communication between villagers and police would help ensure effective action against drug abuse. He appealed to residents to stay away from drugs and maintain communal harmony.
During his visit to Jaluawala, the DGP honoured retired RAC personnel Magna Ram by presenting him with a traditional safa.
Border Dialogues Held in Nachna and Tanot Areas
In the afternoon, DGP Sharma conducted border dialogues and public hearings at Bharewala village in the Nachna area of Jaisalmer and Ranau village under the Tanot police station jurisdiction.
He appealed to villagers to cooperate with the police in preventing various types of crime and drug abuse while maintaining coordination with law enforcement agencies. In the evening, the DGP interacted with border personnel at a Border Out Post and inspected the border area.
Jodhpur Range Inspector General of Police Satyendra Singh, Deputy Inspector General of Police Kunwar Rashtradeep, BSF Deputy Inspector General Jitendra Singh, District Collector Ankit Kumar Singh, Jaisalmer Collector Anupama Jorwal, Superintendent of Police Satnam Singh, Superintendent of Police, CID (SSB Jodhpur), Narpat Singh, BSF Commandant N.P. Negi and other police officers were present during the visit.
Meeting With Police Chiefs of Five Districts on Thursday
On the second day of his visit, Thursday morning, DGP Sharma will visit the Shri Tanot Rai Mata Temple. He will then inspect Sangad Police Station and interact with police personnel.
He will subsequently visit Sindhari Police Station in Balotra, where he will discuss the law-and-order situation with the Superintendents of Police of Balotra and Barmer.
At 3 p.m., he will hold a review meeting at the Jalore Superintendent of Police’s office with the Superintendents of Police of Jalore, Pali and Sirohi to review the law-and-order situation and crime in the three districts.
