Chief Electoral Officer reviews progress with District Election Officers and Electoral Registration Officers

Instructions issued to accelerate registration of eligible young voters and those left out of electoral rolls

Jaipur, October 2026: Rajasthan has received 5,45,863 applications for inclusion of names in electoral rolls under a special voter registration campaign being conducted in accordance with the directions of the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Chief Electoral Officer Naveen Mahajan reviewed the progress of the campaign during a video conference on Friday with all District Election Officers (DEOs) and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) across the state. He directed officials to accelerate the drive and ensure that all eligible citizens are registered as voters.

Mahajan said that, as of October 15, a total of 5,45,863 applications had been received under the special campaign. These included 3,03,110 applications from people in the 18–19 age group, comprising 31,600 advance applications and 2,71,510 applications received between October 1 and October 15.

During the same period, 2,42,753 applications were received from eligible citizens aged 20 years and above seeking inclusion in the electoral rolls.

Focus on Young and First-Time Voters

During the meeting, officials reviewed district-wise and Assembly constituency-wise progress in registering young people aged 18–19. Mahajan instructed them to reach out to all remaining eligible young voters and strengthen registration efforts.

In line with the targets set by the Election Commission of India, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were directed to identify eligible citizens who were not yet registered and assist them in completing Form-6.

The special campaign aims to ensure that no eligible citizen is left out of the electoral rolls and that every eligible young and first-time voter gets an opportunity to participate in the democratic process.

Districts Recording Significant Progress

During the review, Bharatpur, Karauli, Bundi, Alwar and Dholpur districts recorded significant progress in obtaining applications from eligible citizens aged 18–19 who had not yet registered as voters.

At the Assembly constituency level, Baseri, Kathumar, Nadbai, Alwar Rural, Bari, Weir, Bamanswas, Sapotra, Keshoraipatan, Nagar, Rajgarh-Laxmangarh, Begun, Kotputli, Churu, Hindaun and Jhotwara recorded the highest numbers of applications from eligible young and first-time voters who remained unregistered.

The Chief Electoral Officer appreciated the efforts made in these constituencies to expand voter registration among young people.

Registration Drive for Citizens Aged 20 and Above

Among eligible citizens aged 20 years and above who were yet to be included in the electoral rolls, Karauli, Alwar, Bharatpur, Jaipur and Sawai Madhopur districts led in identifying potential voters and obtaining their registration applications.

At the Assembly constituency level, Jhotwara, Vidhyadhar Nagar, Todabhim, Tijara, Hindaun, Rajgarh-Laxmangarh, Gangapur, Ramgarh, Karauli and Sapotra recorded the highest numbers of applications from eligible citizens aged 20 years and above who had not yet registered.

Awareness Campaigns in Educational Institutions and Communities

Mahajan emphasised the need to encourage eligible young and first-time voters to register through Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELCs) in schools and colleges, Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities, and local voter-awareness programmes.

He also directed officials to conduct targeted outreach in night shelters, labour settlements and among homeless people and disadvantaged communities to ensure that no eligible citizen was deprived of the opportunity to have their name included in the electoral rolls.

The Chief Electoral Officer called for regular reviews of the campaign at the district election officer and electoral registration officer levels. He also instructed officials to ensure that all applications received were processed within the prescribed timelines and in accordance with the rules.

Mahajan urged all officials to implement the campaign effectively in compliance with the Election Commission of India’s directions and the provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, and the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960.

He added that eligible citizens could apply to have their names included in the electoral rolls by submitting Form-6 online through the Election Commission of India’s portal at https://voters.eci.gov.in or through the ECINET platform.
