Women go door-to-door, collect earthen lamps and spread the message of public participation
Raipur, September 2026 : Government schemes take the shape of mass movements when every section of society participates in them. A similar spirit of enthusiasm is being witnessed in Balod district under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan 2026. Ahead of the ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ programme scheduled to be held on September 17, women members of Bihan Self-Help Groups have set an inspiring example of public awareness.
Women associated with Bihan groups in Balod development block reached villages and households across the area. They voluntarily collected earthen lamps and wicks from villagers and encouraged families to participate in the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. Responding to the women’s warm appeal, villagers also came forward enthusiastically and pledged to participate in the programme.
Bihan Women Create Festive Atmosphere in Villages
Bihan group members Vinita Sahu and Ravina Sahu said the objective of the campaign was not merely to collect lamps but also to take the spirit of public service, good governance and public participation to every household.
They said the women interacted with villagers and encouraged them to light the ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ on September 17 and become participants in the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
The initiative has created an atmosphere of enthusiasm in the villages. Residents voluntarily provided earthen lamps and expressed their willingness to join the campaign. It also highlighted that when women take responsibility for creating awareness, public participation in important campaigns becomes even stronger.
Strong Role of Bihan Women in Public Awareness
Women members of Bihan Self-Help Groups are actively participating not only in livelihood activities in rural areas but also in various public welfare schemes and social campaigns.
Their initiative to visit households and bring people together for ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ is emerging as an inspiring example of women’s empowerment and public participation.
When the ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ is lit on the evening of September 17, its glow will reflect not only the light of the earthen lamps but also the spirit of public awareness demonstrated by the Bihan women, the participation of villagers and the collective commitment towards service.

The Bihan women said that after joining the National Rural Livelihood Mission, they have become economically empowered and self-reliant. Livelihood activities have brought positive changes to their lives and earned them a new identity and respect in society.
Expressing gratitude for the support and self-reliance they have gained, the women members of the groups conveyed their heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.
