Steps Towards Financial Self-Reliance Through ‘Mahtari Vandan’

Raipur, August 2026: The Mahtari Vandan Yojana is providing women with financial support while enabling them to make more independent decisions about their families’ needs and future plans. The regular financial assistance received under the scheme is helping women save money and prepare for a better future for their children.

Smt. Jyoti Patel, a resident of Vikas Nagar in the Sitamarhi area of Korba city, is among the beneficiaries of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana. She receives ₹1,000 every month under the scheme and is saving the amount for the future of her two daughters. She has started making savings in the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana in both her daughters’ names.

Smt. Patel said the financial assistance provided through the Mahtari Vandan Yojana has given her an opportunity to save money independently. She no longer needs to ask her husband for money every time she wants to set aside a small amount for her daughters’ future. She is now able to use the monthly assistance according to her priorities and regularly save it for her daughters.

She said, “‘Vishnu Bhaiya’ thinks about the sisters and deposits money into their accounts on time. The amount I receive under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana gives me happiness because I can save according to my wishes for my daughters’ future. I no longer have to ask my husband for money for every small requirement. ‘Vishnu Bhaiya’ has introduced a very good scheme keeping the interests of women in mind, and because of it, we are also able to do something for the future of our families and children.”

She said the assistance received under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana has now become more than just monthly financial support. It has turned into a small but important source of savings for her daughters’ dreams and secure future. Through regular contributions to the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, she is already preparing for the educational and future needs of both her daughters.

According to her, the initiative has strengthened women financially. The timely assistance allows women not only to meet their immediate needs but also to focus on savings and long-term financial planning.

For Smt. Patel, the Mahtari Vandan Yojana has therefore become a means of gradually building financial independence while securing better opportunities and a safer future for her daughters.
