Hyderabad, Sep 2026 : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi and sought the Defence Ministry’s cooperation for the upcoming Invest Telangana Global Summit-2026, scheduled to be held at Bharat Future City from December 7 to 9.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister briefed Rajnath Singh on the objectives of the global summit and invited him to inaugurate the Defence Expo-2026, which will be organised as part of the three-day event. Revanth Reddy said the expo would provide a major platform to showcase Telangana’s growing capabilities in the aerospace, defence and space sectors and strengthen the state’s engagement with domestic and international defence companies.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the Defence Expo will feature a dedicated session on aerospace, defence and space, along with an air show, industrial exhibition and live demonstrations of land-based defence systems. Revanth Reddy sought the Defence Ministry’s full cooperation to ensure that the expo is conducted according to international standards.
The Chief Minister particularly requested assistance in securing the necessary airspace clearances for the air show and facilitating the participation of Indian Air Force aircraft. He also sought the participation of the Surya Kiran and Sarang aerobatic teams, besides support for a static aircraft display at the venue.
Revanth Reddy requested that advanced defence systems operated by the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force be showcased at the expo. He also invited senior officers and representatives from all three services to participate in the event and interact with industry stakeholders.
Emphasising the importance of the Defence Minister’s presence, Revanth Reddy said defence industries, startups and young scientists from across the country would participate in the expo and exchange ideas, experiences and technological expertise. He said Rajnath Singh’s participation and guidance would provide considerable encouragement and inspiration to participants and guests from the defence sector.
The Chief Minister also informed the Defence Minister that Telangana was looking forward to hosting the Defence Expo-2026 in Hyderabad and discussed arrangements for the participation of major defence public sector undertakings (PSUs). These include Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) and laboratories of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
The state government plans to provide these organisations a platform to showcase indigenous defence technologies and capabilities before national and international participants attending the global summit. Revanth Reddy also sought the Defence Ministry’s support in facilitating meetings with foreign defence representatives, bilateral defence delegations and senior representatives of international defence organisations.
Investment opportunities in Telangana’s defence sector were also discussed during the meeting. The Chief Minister highlighted the state’s efforts to create infrastructure and provide land for strategic defence-related projects.
On the proposed Adilabad Airport, Revanth Reddy informed Rajnath Singh that the Telangana government had already acquired 750 acres of land. He said another 750 acres would be acquired based on the Defence Ministry’s requirement.
The Chief Minister further announced that the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) had agreed to allocate 416.18 acres in Devarakadra Mandal of Mahabubnagar district for a prestigious project of the Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL).
The land will be leased for 33 years at a nominal annual rent of Rs 1 for the entire parcel, rather than on a per-acre basis. The arrangement also includes a provision to extend the lease agreement twice, if required.
Telangana SHAKTI Minister G. Vivek Venkataswamy, MPs M. Anil Kumar Yadav, Dr Mallu Ravi, Suresh Shetkar and Porika Balram Naik, along with State Government Advisor (Protocol) Harkara Venugopal, were also present at the meeting.
