HYDERABAD, Oct 22026 : The Telangana government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, has offered assistance to neighbouring Andhra Pradesh in relief operations and electricity restoration following the impact of Cyclone Arnab.

Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka spoke to Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar over the phone on Wednesday to enquire about the cyclone’s impact, the damage caused by severe weather conditions and the ongoing restoration efforts.

According to an official release, Gottipati briefed Bhatti Vikramarka on the damage reported so far and the measures being taken by the Andhra Pradesh government under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to minimise losses and restore normalcy in the affected areas.

The discussion focused particularly on restoring electricity supply, supporting relief operations and ensuring the safety of people in cyclone-hit regions.

Bhatti Vikramarka assured Andhra Pradesh of Telangana’s full support in dealing with the situation. He said the Telangana government was ready to provide personnel and essential materials required for electricity restoration, if necessary.

The offer of assistance is expected to strengthen the ongoing response efforts and help accelerate the restoration of power supply in areas affected by the cyclone. The two states have expressed their willingness to coordinate efforts to address the challenges arising from the severe weather conditions.

Gottipati Ravi Kumar thanked the Telangana government and Bhatti Vikramarka for extending support to Andhra Pradesh during the difficult period. He appreciated Telangana’s readiness to provide resources and personnel to assist with restoration operations.

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh Energy Department has mobilised around 6,000 experienced personnel and activated emergency response mechanisms to address power disruptions caused by the cyclone.

Gottipati had earlier stated that officers and field staff with experience in cyclone-related restoration work had been deployed to support emergency services and expedite the restoration of electricity in affected areas.

To ensure adequate manpower, leave arrangements were revised in areas outside the cyclone’s immediate impact. Personnel were deployed to vulnerable locations based on operational requirements, enabling power utilities to respond quickly to disruptions.

The minister also directed the chairpersons and managing directors of power distribution companies to visit affected areas and closely monitor restoration work. Directors were assigned supervisory responsibilities in Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Kakinada and Konaseema districts.

The coordinated response by the two neighbouring states highlights the importance of inter-state cooperation in managing natural disasters, restoring essential services and extending timely assistance to affected communities.

With electricity restoration and public safety remaining key priorities, Andhra Pradesh continues to mobilise resources to minimise disruptions and bring affected areas back to normalcy.
