Japanese investors informed on opportunities to establish drug manufacturing units in UP
Investors seek information on investment opportunities in the pharma sector at UPFSDA stall
Lucknow, August 2026 : With the objective of promoting investment in the drug manufacturing sector in Uttar Pradesh, the Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Administration (UPFSDA) set up a special stall at the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026.
At the conference held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in the state capital, Japanese representatives, investors and industry representatives were provided information about investment opportunities in Uttar Pradesh, available facilities and the regulatory framework through the stall.
UPFSDA informed investors that Uttar Pradesh offers extensive opportunities for investment in the drug manufacturing sector. The state has an adequate Land Bank, investor-friendly policies and institutional arrangements required for setting up industries. Investors were specifically encouraged to establish their manufacturing plants in Uttar Pradesh.
Investment opportunities in sectors related to pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing were prominently showcased at the stall.
Investors were provided information about the state's investor-friendly policies and facilities, including the UP Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Policy-2023. The department informed investors that special emphasis is being laid on making licensing and other regulatory processes online and transparent for their convenience.
Through the provision of Online Application and time-bound disposal, efforts are being made to improve the Ease of Doing Business for investors.
At the conference, UPFSDA conveyed the message that Uttar Pradesh is not only a large market but also a strong Investment Destination for Drug Manufacturing. Japanese investors were informed about opportunities to establish their production units in the state, expand production capacity and manufacture for both the domestic as well as global markets. Senior officials and employees associated with the department were present at the stall on the occasion.
