Tadepalli (Andhra Pradesh), Aug 2026 : YSRCP spokesperson Putta Sivashankar Reddy on Saturday alleged that industries were being forced to reconsider investments in Andhra Pradesh due to alleged harassment, interference and extortion demands by leaders of the ruling coalition.
Addressing a press conference at the YSRCP Central Office in Tadepalli, Sivashankar claimed that the State’s industrial sector had entered a crisis since the coalition government came to power, with several existing and proposed investors allegedly choosing to move their projects elsewhere.
Citing specific examples, he said the proposed Rs 6,675-crore Tata Power project in Nellore had shifted to Odisha, while the Rs 3,538-crore Websol project planned for Naidupeta had moved to West Bengal.
Sivashankar demanded that the State government explain why major projects were leaving Andhra Pradesh despite its claims of attracting investments worth Rs 24 lakh crore and generating 20 lakh jobs.
He challenged the government to make complete details of the announced investments and employment opportunities available in the public domain. If it was not possible to provide details of all 20 lakh jobs, he said, the government should at least publish information relating to 10 per cent of them.
The YSRCP spokesperson also alleged that land allotted during the tenure of former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to Coca-Cola in Anakapalli and Azad Mobility in Sri Sathya Sai district had been taken back.
He claimed that land associated with the GINFRA and Jupiter projects had also been cancelled, which, according to him, had adversely affected potential employment opportunities in the State.
Sivashankar further alleged that cement and thermal power industries in Rayalaseema were facing pressure from coalition leaders seeking contracts related to transportation, fly ash and other activities.
He named companies including UltraTech, Dalmia, Vicat, Srichakra and Bharathi Cements, alleging that they were facing repeated interference and intimidation. These allegations were made by the YSRCP leader during the press conference and were not independently verified.
The YSRCP spokesperson also criticised the State’s ranking in Ease of Doing Business. He claimed that Andhra Pradesh had occupied the top position during the previous YSRCP government, including during the Covid-19 pandemic, but had now slipped to eighth place.
Sivashankar also questioned the State government’s celebration of an ASSOCHAM award presented to the Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC). He alleged that the corporation had raised Rs 9,000 crore by leveraging the State’s mineral resources and described the award as an outcome of corporate lobbying rather than a significant achievement.
He maintained that an atmosphere of fear, political interference and uncertainty was developing in Andhra Pradesh and alleged that this was prompting industries to consider more stable investment destinations outside the State.
