Mizoram State Sports Council (MSSC) And Samagra Shiksha Sign Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU)

AIZAWL: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Mizoram State Sports Council (MSSC) and Samagra Shiksha at the Secretariat Conference Hall, in the presence of Sports Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar and Education Minister Dr. Vanlalthlana, marking a significant step towards the development of sports in Mizoram.

The MoU was signed by Pu Henry Lalrawnkima, Secretary of MSSC, and Pu Lalthanzira, SPD of Samagra Shiksha. Both the Sports Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar and Education Minister Dr. Vanlalthlana were present at the signing ceremony.

Under the MoU, Samagra Shiksha will focus on grassroots-level sports development (GSDP). The state government has initiated the “Bana Kaih Policy,” a talent identification programme that will reach every district of Mizoram. The GSDP will target children between the ages of 6 and 18, aiming to nurture young talent and provide opportunities for participation in sports. The convergence of these efforts is expected to strengthen Mizoram’s sports infrastructure and create a sustainable pathway for developing future sports stars.

Sports Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar emphasized that the “Bana Kaih Policy” would play a crucial role in elevating Mizoram’s sports scene and contribute to the state’s long-term sports development goals. He mentioned that the talent identification programme would enable the state to produce athletes who could potentially represent India in future Olympic Games, such as the 2036 Olympics.

Education Minister Dr. Vanlalthlana stated that the signing of the MoU between MSSC and Samagra Shiksha was a positive development for Mizoram. He noted that the collaboration would bring about effective utilization of sports funds, improve infrastructure, and enhance overall sports opportunities in the state. He also expressed his confidence that the MoU would play a significant role in Mizoram’s future sports achievements.
