Raipur, December 27, 2025 : The contribution of tribal heroes and great personalities to India’s freedom struggle, as well as to nation-building and social reconstruction, is unparalleled. Martyr Gaind Singh Nayak, the pride of the Halba, Halbi and tribal communities and of the entire nation, had given the very first call for India’s freedom movement. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated this while addressing the 35th Milan Samaroh and Shakti Diwas festival organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Halba–Halbi Samaj at the Halba Shakti Sthal located in Gokul Nagar, Durg district headquarters.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai also inaugurated the newly constructed office building of the Halba–Halbi community. He announced the approval of ₹50 lakh to provide residential coaching facilities for Halba community youth preparing for competitive examinations at the Shakti Sthal. In addition, he announced the sanction of ₹25 lakh for the construction of a boundary wall at the Kanwar community social building located in Pulgaon, Durg. During the event, he also released the Halba–Halbi community’s social magazine titled “Samaj”.

The Chief Minister further said that across Chhattisgarh and the entire country, the freedom movement was first initiated by heroes of the tribal society. Martyr Veer Narayan Singh, Martyr Gaind Singh Nayak, along with other tribal leaders and patriots, had sounded the call for as many as 14 revolutions against British rule. He noted that former Prime Minister Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee had taken the first step towards the upliftment and development of tribal communities by establishing the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs. At the initiative of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, a grand Tribal Museum has been constructed in the state capital Raipur to introduce the new generation to the contributions and immortal stories of tribal heroes and brave sons of the soil, while also ensuring their preservation and promotion.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that in the last two years, the state government has given priority to fulfilling most of Prime Minister Modi’s guarantees. Nearly 70 lakh women in the state are benefiting from the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, tendu leaf collectors are being paid ₹5,500 per standard sack, and farmers are receiving ₹3,100 per quintal for paddy. More than 26 lakh families have been approved for houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Naxalism in the state is also in its final phase. Through the Niyad Nellanar Yojana, development works are progressing rapidly in more than 400 villages. The Chhattisgarh government is continuously working towards building a developed Chhattisgarh by 2047 and making it a leading state in the country.

The programme was also addressed by Member of Parliament Shri Vijay Baghel, former minister Shri Mahesh Gagda, and State President of the Halba–Halbi Samaj, Shri Khalendra. On the occasion, Vice Chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Other Backward Classes Commission Shri Lalit Chandrakar, office-bearers of the Akhil Bharatiya Halba–Halbi Samaj, and a large number of community members were present.
