Complete Phase I of Water Tourism at Gosikhurd Reservoir Immediately, Submit Phase II Proposal: Dy CM Eknath Shinde

Mumbai, April 2026 : Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed officials to complete the Phase I work of the water tourism project at the Gosikhurd reservoir in Bhandara district at the earliest and to promptly submit a proposal for Phase II.

The directions were issued during a meeting held at Sahyadri Guest House under the chairmanship of the Deputy Chief Minister. MLA Narendra Bhondekar, Additional Chief Secretary to the Deputy Chief Minister Aseem Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary (Urban Development) Govindraaj, Principal Secretary (Tourism) Sanjay Khandare, and Managing Director of Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation Nilesh Gatne were present. Secretary (Water Resources) Sanjay Belsare, the District Collector of Bhandara, and the Chief Engineer of Gosikhurd participated through video conferencing.

During the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Shinde reviewed the progress of the water tourism project at the reservoir. He instructed that the ongoing jetty work under Phase I be completed as soon as possible. He also directed the District Collector to review Phase II and submit a proposal to the state government without delay.

The meeting also discussed the proposed broad-gauge metro service running between Nagpur and Bhandara Road. MLA Bhondekar demanded that the metro service be extended up to Bhandara city. Acting on this, Shinde instructed concerned officials to follow up with MahaMetro and the Railway Board. He noted that extending the metro service to Bhandara city would significantly benefit the district.
