Maharashtra to Hold Exams for 3,103 Animal Husbandry Officer Posts on June 11

Mumbai, May 2026 : In a major boost to veterinary and livestock services in Maharashtra, the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has announced recruitment examinations for 3,103 posts in the Animal Husbandry Department. The examinations will be held on June 11, 2026, following sustained efforts by State Animal Husbandry Minister Pankaja Munde to expedite the recruitment process.

According to the official notification issued by the MPSC, computer-based screening examinations will be conducted for 2,795 posts of Livestock Development Officer in the Maharashtra Animal Husbandry Service Group ‘A’ and 308 posts of Assistant Commissioner, Animal Husbandry Group ‘A’.

The examination will take place in Mumbai, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Nagpur from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A separate merit list will be prepared based on candidates’ scores, after which the next phase of the selection process will begin.

The recruitment drive comes at a crucial time, as the Animal Husbandry Department has been facing a severe shortage of officers across the state. The vacancies had reportedly affected veterinary healthcare services, livestock disease management, vaccination drives, and emergency assistance for farmers, especially in rural areas.

To address these challenges, Minister Pankaja Munde had consistently pursued the matter with the Maharashtra Public Service Commission, urging it to speed up the recruitment process.

Expressing satisfaction over the development, Pankaja Munde said the announcement would bring relief and encouragement to thousands of aspiring candidates waiting for the recruitment notification.

“I am delighted to share the good news that many have been eagerly waiting for. The Maharashtra Public Service Commission has decided to conduct examinations for 2,795 Livestock Development Officer posts and 308 Assistant Commissioner posts in the Animal Husbandry Department. The examination will be held on June 11, 2026,” she said.

She further noted that once these officers join the department, the functioning of the Animal Husbandry sector would gain significant momentum. The recruitment is expected to strengthen veterinary infrastructure, improve livestock healthcare services, and ensure better support for farmers and rural communities dependent on animal husbandry.

The minister also expressed confidence that the appointments would enhance the department’s ability to provide timely treatment, preventive healthcare, and vaccination services for livestock across Maharashtra.

Officials believe that the large-scale recruitment will not only strengthen the state’s veterinary network but also contribute positively to the rural economy, where livestock plays a major role in sustaining livelihoods.

Pankaja Munde extended her best wishes to all candidates appearing for the examination and expressed hope that the recruitment process would help build a stronger and more efficient animal husbandry administration in Maharashtra.
