FCS&CA Department Hosts Dinner in Honour of MoS Nimuben Bambhaniya
Aizawl, May, 2026 : Last night, the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department, Government of Mizoram hosted an Interaction-cum-Dinner Programme in honour of the visiting Union Minister of State (MoS) for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution (CAF&PD), Smt. Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya, at the R.B. McCabe Hall, Aijal Club, Aizawl. The event was attended by FCS&CA Minister Shri B. Lalchhanzova; FCS&CA Secretary Shri Ravi Dadhich, IAS; PS to MoS Smt. Jagriti Rohit Singla, IRTS; Addl PS to MoS Smt. Khushbu Suthar, GAS; Food Corporation of India (FCI) General Manager (NEF Region) Shri Sandeep Deora, along with other FCI and state officials.
Addressing the gathering, Minister of State Smt. Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya expressed her happiness at being able to visit Mizoram. She remarked that Mizoram is home to many unique indigenous products and vibrant cultural heritage, such as the GI-tagged Mizo Ginger and Mizo Chilli, besides the world-famous Cheraw dance. However, she stated that her visit was not merely to admire the beauty and achievements of the State, but also to understand the challenges faced by Mizoram first-hand and extend necessary support.
Smt. Nimuben highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji, around 81 crore people continue to receive free ration across the country. She pointed out that this population is larger than that of entire Europe, making it the largest food security programme in the world. Attributing this to the Prime Minister’s high regard for ‘Food for All’, the MoS assured that they would make every possible effort to ensure that everyone in Mizoram continues to have sufficient and quality food to eat.The Minister appreciated the initiatives and achievements of the FCS&CA Department, stating that systems like e-KYC, EPOS and SMART PDS have greatly benefitted the people. Furthermore, acknowledging that heavy monsoon rains often disrupt road connectivity in the Northeast, Smt. Nimuben expressed her willingness to assist northeastern states by ensuring advance allocation of ration for up to three months before the onset of the monsoon. She also offered to convey Mizoram’s grievances to the Union CAF&PD Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi and arrange a meeting with him for further discussion.
Speaking on the occasion, FCS&CA Minister Pu B. Lalchhanzova thanked the MoS for visiting Mizoram and personally assessing the various challenges faced by the State. He also extended his gratitude to the Central Government and the FCI for their continued support in ensuring a steady food supply for Mizoram. The Minister further stated that the Mizoram Government would continue to strengthen cooperation with the Central Government to ensure that no citizen is deprived of their rightful entitlements. He also requested the MoS to consider enhancement of Mizoram’s NFSA quota to further strengthen food supply and ensure “Food for All” in the State.
FCS&CA Department Secretary Shri Ravi Dadhich also expressed gratitude to the MoS for visiting Mizoram and personally reviewing the ground realities of the State. Through a PowerPoint presentation, he highlighted the current status and initiatives of the Department, and explained the ongoing State Government programmes, namely the Non-NFSA and MSSRP schemes.
Subsequently, FCI General Manager (NEF Region) Shri Sandeep Deora also made a PowerPoint presentation on various initiatives undertaken by FCI for Mizoram in the areas of food supply and warehousing, their current status, the challenges being faced by them, and the measures required to overcome them.
Last night’s programme was chaired by FCS&CA Department Director Smt. Saizikpuii, who delivered the welcome address and also concluded the programme with a vote of thanks. This was followed by an informal interaction session and dinner for all the attendees.
