June 3 Swearing-In Date Finalised for D.K. Shivakumar as Karnataka CM; Auspicious Time Chosen by Vaastu Expert

Bengaluru, May 2026 : The date for the swearing-in ceremony of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President D.K. Shivakumar as the next Chief Minister of Karnataka was formally finalised on Saturday, with Vaastu and astrology expert Guruji Aaradhya identifying June 3 as the most auspicious day for the event.

Speaking to reporters outside Shivakumar’s residence, Aaradhya said the oath-taking ceremony will be held on Wednesday, June 3, at 5.15 p.m. during the auspicious Vruschika Lagna. The ceremony is scheduled to take place at Lok Bhavan, where Shivakumar is expected to officially assume office as the state’s new Chief Minister.

Aaradhya stated that he personally selected the muhurta after careful consideration of astrological factors. He revealed that June 5 had initially been under consideration for the swearing-in, but logistical constraints involving the availability of a key dignitary prompted a change in plans.

“I have been with Shivakumar since morning and personally fixed the auspicious time. June 5 was one of the dates being considered earlier, but an important person expected to attend the ceremony would not be available on that day. Therefore, June 3 was finalised,” Aaradhya said.

The announcement came amid heightened political activity in Bengaluru ahead of the crucial Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting, where Shivakumar is expected to be formally elected as the party’s legislative leader, paving the way for his appointment as Chief Minister.

Earlier in the day, Shivakumar visited the Nagarabhavi branch of Ajjayya Math and sought blessings from Ajjayya Swamiji. According to sources, the Congress leader discussed the proposed swearing-in date during his interaction with the seer after meeting Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot.

Sources close to the developments indicated that Shivakumar’s associates had also consulted the Governor’s office regarding his availability for June 3 before finalising the date. Astrological considerations linked to Shivakumar’s horoscope reportedly played a significant role in choosing the timing of the ceremony.

Adding to the political significance of the day, senior Congress leaders and AICC General Secretaries Randeep Singh Surjewala and K.C. Venugopal arrived in Bengaluru ahead of the CLP meeting, which is expected to complete the formal process of leadership transition in the state.

Meanwhile, outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah attended the final rites of former minister Venkataramanappa and chose not to comment on the ongoing leadership change. Paying tribute to the veteran Congress leader, Siddaramaiah described his death as a personal loss and praised his lifelong commitment to social justice, farmers’ welfare and the upliftment of weaker sections.

Recalling their long association, Siddaramaiah said Venkataramanappa had always stood firmly with the AHINDA communities and remained deeply connected with grassroots issues. He expressed hope that the late leader’s son would continue his father’s legacy of public service.

With the date and time now settled, the Congress is expected to complete the remaining formalities in the coming days, setting the stage for D.K. Shivakumar’s elevation as Karnataka’s next Chief Minister.
