Priyanka Arul Mohan Appointed Honorary Ambassador for Korea Tourism
Chennai, June 2026 : Popular actress Priyanka Arul Mohan has been appointed as the Honorary Ambassador for Korea Tourism by the Korean government and the Korea Tourism Organization, marking a significant recognition of her growing influence and contribution to strengthening cultural ties between India and South Korea.
The appointment comes shortly after the success of her film Made in Korea, directed by Ra Karthik. The film, which premiered on Netflix earlier this year, was notable for being extensively shot in South Korea and is regarded as a landmark project in Tamil cinema’s engagement with international filmmaking.
Expressing her gratitude, Priyanka shared an emotional message on social media, describing the appointment as a special and meaningful milestone in her career. She thanked the Korean government and the Korea Tourism Organization for placing their trust in her and recognising her ability to help introduce Korean culture to Indian audiences.
The actress said she has always admired Korea’s rich culture, traditions and hospitality, adding that she was delighted to become part of an initiative aimed at bringing people of the two countries closer together. She also extended her appreciation to the President of the Korea Tourism Organization for the warm welcome and support.
Priyanka’s appointment is expected to play a key role in promoting South Korea as a travel destination among Indian tourists. As Honorary Ambassador, she is likely to participate in campaigns showcasing Korean heritage, cuisine, tourism attractions and cultural experiences to audiences across India.
The honour adds to what has already been a memorable year for the actress. In April, she attended a state dinner hosted by Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The event was held in the presence of Narendra Modi and Lee Jae Myung.
Following the event, Priyanka described the evening as a surreal and unforgettable experience. She said she felt privileged to interact with distinguished leaders from both nations and was particularly honoured to share a meal with them. The actress also revealed that the leaders appreciated Made in Korea, a film that celebrates cultural connections between India and South Korea.
Reflecting on the occasion, she said the experience represented the fulfilment of years of hard work, dreams and perseverance. She noted that such moments reinforced the importance of storytelling that transcends borders and connects people from different cultures.
Released directly on Netflix on March 12, Made in Korea marked a major milestone in Priyanka’s career. It was her first project involving collaboration with international actors and technicians and is also considered the first Tamil film to be shot in South Korea on such a large scale.
With her new role as Korea Tourism’s Honorary Ambassador, Priyanka Arul Mohan is set to become a prominent cultural bridge between India and South Korea, further strengthening the growing people-to-people ties between the two countries through cinema, tourism and cultural exchange.
