Rs 642.27 crore transferred to the accounts of 6.854 million women

Fresh support for the dignity, self-reliance, and economic empowerment of women

Raipur, June 2026 : Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai today released the 28th installment of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana at a state-level programme held in Bilaspur, transferring Rs 642,27,77,950 (Rs 642.27 crore) directly into the bank accounts of 68.54 lakh (6.854 million) women across the state.

The 28th installment of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana was released at a state-level programme in Bilaspur.

Women’s empowerment a top priority

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that respect, empowerment, and self-reliance of women are among the state government’s highest priorities. He described the Mahtari Vandan Yojana as a historic and transformative initiative in this direction.

“No society or state can achieve complete progress unless women are economically empowered and socially respected,” he said. “The Mahtari Vandan Yojana is not only providing financial security to women but is also strengthening their confidence and decision-making ability.”

About the scheme

The Mahtari Vandan Yojana, launched on March 1, 2024, provides Rs 1,000 per month as financial assistance to eligible married women in the state.

Beneficiaries are using the funds for household expenses, children’s education, healthcare, nutrition, and small self-employment activities. The scheme has helped strengthen household finances and increased women’s participation in social and economic activities.

This cumulative assistance has contributed to greater economic stability and social security for women across Chhattisgarh.

Extending benefits to remote regions

Chief Minister Sai said the government is committed to ensuring that welfare schemes reach the last person in society. Under the Niyad Nellanar campaign in Sukma, Bijapur, Dantewada, Kanker, and Narayanpur districts, 7,770 new women have been enrolled under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana.

This expansion has brought financial assistance and social security benefits to women living in remote and sensitive areas of the state.

A symbol of dignity and confidence

The Chief Minister noted that the scheme has evolved beyond a simple financial assistance programme and has become a powerful symbol of women’s dignity, confidence, and self-reliance.

“Women are participating more actively in their families and communities because of the confidence they have gained through the scheme,” he said.

He added that women’s participation is essential for building a developed Chhattisgarh, and that the government will continue working for the social, economic, and educational advancement of women.

With the effective implementation of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, a new wave of women’s empowerment has emerged in the state, bringing greater prosperity and financial stability to millions of families.
