Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Attends Fifth Day of Shri Ram Katha
Ramcharitmanas Should Be Declared a National Scripture: Rambhadracharya
Lucknow, June 2026 : On the fifth day of the nine-day musical Shri Ram Katha, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attended the event and received blessings from the Vyaspeeth while listening to the discourse.

On this occasion, several dignitaries were present, including Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Legislative Council members Mukesh Sharma and Eng. Avnish Kumar Singh, former MLA Dhirendra Pratap Singh, retired IAS officer Diwakar Tripathi, BJP Metropolitan President Anand Dwivedi, along with many public representatives and prominent citizens. Organiser MLA Dr. Neeraj Bora presented a memento to the Defence Minister.
The Shri Ram Katha is being held at the Brij Ki Rasoi complex on Sitapur Road, where Padma Vibhushan Jagadguru Swami Rambhadracharya, Peethadheeshwar of Tulsi Peeth, narrated the emotionally rich episode of the marriage of Lord Ram and Goddess Janaki, and elaborated on the significance of devotion.
He said that a true saint is one at whose feet a person’s problems come to an end. Saints guide society, bring peace into lives, and connect people with the divine.
Remarks on National Security and Ramcharitmanas

In his address, Rambhadracharya mentioned that during Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s tenure, Operation Sindoor led to the destruction of nine terrorist bases in Pakistan. He added that if the operation had continued for two more days, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir would have been reclaimed by India.
He also referred to an instance where Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, during his initiation, expressed his wish to offer guru dakshina, to which he responded that he desired the return of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir to India.
Addressing Rajnath Singh, the Jagadguru said that as a Kshatriya, he carries the responsibility of protecting the nation. He expressed confidence that in 2029 too, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the government would continue, and Rajnath Singh would once again serve as Defence Minister.
He also demanded that Jagadguru Rambhadracharya Divyang State University be granted Central University status, and that Ramcharitmanas be declared a national scripture.
Rambhadracharya, author of around 376 texts, said he has memorised nearly 150,000 pages from the Rigveda to the Hanuman Chalisa, but considers Ramcharitmanas incomparable. He said the concept of nationhood is embedded in the Ramcharitmanas, and Lord Ram represents the welfare of the nation.
Rajnath Singh’s Address

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said he has known Jagadguru Rambhadracharya for the past 30–32 years and has never seen such extraordinary memory and talent anywhere in the world. He said this is not merely human effort but a divine blessing.
He recalled that during his tenure as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, he had helped pass legislation granting Rambhadracharya lifelong chancellorship of his university, calling it a first-of-its-kind decision in the country.
Quoting former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Singh said, “No one becomes great with a small mind, and no one rises with a broken spirit.” He said he has witnessed this greatness of spirit in Rambhadracharya and noted that every blessing received from him has proven true.
