ECI Revises Electoral Roll Revision Schedule for Delhi, Karnataka, Punjab and Telangana

New Delhi, July 2026 : The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday announced a revised schedule for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in four states and Union Territories — Punjab, Telangana, Delhi and Karnataka. The revised timeline extends key stages of the voter list revision process, including house-to-house verification, polling station rationalisation, draft publication, claims and objections, and final publication of electoral rolls.

According to the revised programme, the final electoral rolls for Punjab and Telangana will now be published on October 12, while Delhi and Karnataka will release their updated voter lists on October 19. The Commission has communicated the revised timelines to the respective Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) through an official letter signed by Under Secretary Sandeep Kumar, directing them to complete the exercise within the new deadlines.

The Special Intensive Revision is aimed at ensuring that electoral rolls remain accurate and updated by including eligible voters, deleting ineligible entries and correcting discrepancies before future elections.

Punjab Schedule Revised

In Punjab, the door-to-door verification exercise by Booth Level Officers (BLOs), which began on June 25, has been extended until August 3.

The Election Commission has also extended the timeline for the rationalisation and rearrangement of polling stations, which will now be completed by the same date.

The draft electoral roll will be published on August 13, after which citizens will have an opportunity to verify their details and submit applications for additions, deletions or corrections.

The period for filing claims and objections will run from August 13 to September 12, while electoral authorities will scrutinise and dispose of these applications between August 13 and October 8.

The final electoral roll for Punjab will be published on October 12.

Delhi Gets Extended Timeline

For Delhi, the Commission has extended the house-to-house verification by BLOs, which commenced on June 30, until August 8.

The rationalisation and reorganisation of polling stations will also conclude by August 8, followed by the draft publication of electoral rolls on August 17.

Residents will be able to submit claims and objections from August 17 to September 16, while election officials will process these applications between August 17 and October 15.

The final electoral roll for the national capital will be published on October 19, providing additional time for verification and corrections.

Karnataka Follows Similar Schedule

Karnataka will follow the same revised schedule as Delhi.

The ongoing house-to-house verification by Booth Level Officers has been extended until August 8, with polling station rationalisation also scheduled for completion on the same day.

The draft voter list will be released on August 17, followed by the period for filing claims and objections from August 17 to September 16.

The disposal of all applications and objections will continue until October 15, after which the final electoral rolls will be published on October 19.

Telangana Revision Timeline

In Telangana, where the revision process began on June 25, the BLO verification exercise has been extended until August 3.

The rationalisation and rearrangement of polling stations will also be completed by August 3.

The Commission has scheduled the draft publication of electoral rolls for August 10, allowing eligible voters to verify their entries.

The period for filing claims and objections will remain open from August 10 to September 9, while electoral authorities will examine and dispose of these applications between August 10 and October 8.

The final electoral rolls for Telangana will be published on October 12.

The Election Commission said the revised schedule is intended to ensure a thorough and transparent revision process, giving electoral officials sufficient time to complete field verification, address claims and objections, and prepare accurate voter lists. The updated electoral rolls will serve as the basis for future elections in the respective states and the national capital.
