Nagarkurnool Election Officer Denies Claims of Dual Voter Registration for Telangana CM Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad, July 2026 : The District Election Officer (DEO) of Telangana’s Nagarkurnool district has categorically denied reports claiming that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is enrolled as a voter in two Assembly constituencies, stating that there is no case of double voting or dual voter registration involving the Chief Minister.

In an official clarification issued on Tuesday, Nagarkurnool Collector and District Election Officer said Revanth Reddy is not registered as a voter in the Achampet Assembly constituency or anywhere else in Nagarkurnool district as of July 14, 2026, dismissing the allegations circulating on social media as baseless.

The clarification came after a series of social media posts and media reports alleged that the Chief Minister’s name appeared in electoral rolls for both the Kodangal Assembly constituency in Mahabubnagar Parliamentary constituency and the Achampet Assembly constituency under Nagarkurnool Parliamentary constituency, with both entries reportedly carrying the same Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) number.

Addressing the controversy, the DEO stated that the claims were entirely incorrect.

“It has come to our notice that false information is being circulated on social media regarding the voter enrolment status of the Hon’ble Chief Minister in Nagarkurnool district. As there is no voter enrolment in this district, the question of printing or distributing an Enumeration Form under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process does not arise,” the statement said.

The election authorities also appealed to the public not to believe or circulate unverified information that could create confusion regarding the electoral process.

The controversy had intensified after reports suggested that the Chief Minister’s name was listed in two different Assembly constituencies under separate Parliamentary constituencies. Those reports claimed both voter entries were linked through the same EPIC number, leading to allegations of dual voter enrolment.

Earlier, the Telangana government’s official fact-checking platform, FactCheck_Telangana, had issued a clarification on social media citing information from the Election Commission. According to the post, the appearance of the Chief Minister’s name in two electoral rolls with the same EPIC number was an “electoral roll anomaly” and not evidence of dual voting rights.

The clarification explained that the issue was already being addressed as part of the Election Commission’s ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. It further stated that corrections would be made by the concerned District Election Officer following the procedures prescribed by the Election Commission of India.

The statement also emphasised that the existence of the same EPIC number in two electoral rolls did not automatically entitle a person to vote in two different constituencies.

According to the government-issued clarification, the Chief Minister’s family had informed election authorities that they intended to retain his voter registration in Kodangal Assembly constituency and had requested the deletion of the alleged entry from the Kondareddypally electoral roll.

However, the clarification issued through the state government’s fact-check handle drew criticism from some quarters, with questions being raised over why the explanation had come from the government instead of the Election Commission or district election authorities. Following the criticism, the post was removed from the FactCheck_Telangana social media account.

Later on Tuesday night, the Nagarkurnool District Election Officer issued the fresh official clarification, reiterating that there is no voter enrolment of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in Nagarkurnool district, effectively dismissing allegations of dual voter registration and double voting.

The latest clarification is expected to put to rest speculation surrounding the Chief Minister’s electoral status while reaffirming that any discrepancies in electoral rolls, if identified, are addressed under the Election Commission’s established procedures during the ongoing revision process.
