Pawan Kalyan Discharged After Shoulder Surgery, Begins Recovery Phase

Amaravati, July 2026 : Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan was discharged from Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on Wednesday after undergoing successful surgery on his right shoulder. He is now heading to Hyderabad, where he will remain under medical supervision and take complete rest before beginning rehabilitation.

According to the Deputy Chief Minister’s Office, Pawan Kalyan will recuperate at his Hyderabad residence in accordance with the advice of his doctors. Medical specialists have recommended three weeks of complete rest, after which he will begin a structured physiotherapy programme aimed at restoring full movement and strength in the operated shoulder.

The actor-politician underwent arthroscopic surgery on July 11 after being diagnosed with a serious rotator cuff injury in his right shoulder. The injury involved extensive tears to the supraspinatus and infraspinatus tendons, along with an avulsion fracture of the greater tuberosity bone.

The procedure was successfully performed by renowned orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, Director of Arthroscopy and Shoulder Services at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. Doctors described the surgery as uneventful and confirmed that Pawan Kalyan responded well to the procedure and recovered steadily during his stay at the hospital.

Medical experts have estimated that it will take approximately four months for the operated shoulder to regain normal function. Doctors have also identified an issue with his left shoulder and have advised physiotherapy as the initial course of treatment. They plan to reassess its condition after six months before deciding whether any further medical intervention is required.

Following his surgery, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu visited Pawan Kalyan at the hospital on July 12 to enquire about his health and wish him a speedy recovery. Speaking after the meeting, Naidu said doctors had recommended three weeks of complete rest, followed by physiotherapy, adding that the rehabilitation process would be crucial for his full recovery.

The hospital, in an earlier medical bulletin, had stated that Pawan Kalyan would undergo a comprehensive shoulder rehabilitation programme after the initial recovery period. The treatment plan has been designed to ensure a gradual return of full shoulder function while minimising the risk of future complications.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also visited the Deputy Chief Minister at the Mumbai hospital on July 13. During the meeting, Fadnavis enquired about his health, interacted with family members and conveyed his best wishes for a quick and complete recovery.

Pawan Kalyan’s surgery and recovery have drawn widespread attention, with leaders from across the political spectrum, film personalities and supporters expressing concern and extending their wishes for his speedy return to public life.

For the next few weeks, the Jana Sena chief is expected to stay away from official engagements and public appearances while focusing on recovery. His medical team remains optimistic that with disciplined rehabilitation and physiotherapy, he will regain full mobility in his right shoulder over the coming months.
