NEW DELHI, July 2026 : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said the Modi government had been forced to bow before the country’s youth, calling it only the second instance in 12 years that the Centre had been compelled to back down. Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said the first was the farmers’ movement, when the government relented after a year, and the second was the youth-led movement that forced the resignation of the Union Education Minister and the dismissal of several NTA (National Testing Agency) officials, which he described as a major victory for young people. He added that, apart from these two instances, the Modi government had built a record of crushing every protest with batons rather than yielding to public movements.

AAP Rajya Sabha MP and senior leader Sanjay Singh said, “We used to raise the slogan: ‘Whichever direction the youth march, the world follows.’ I salute the crores of young people of this country who have shown the Prime Minister and his arrogant government that when the youth awaken, the government has to wake up from its Kumbhakarna-like slumber. For the past month, protests in support of this movement had been taking place at Jantar Mantar and across the country.”

Sanjay Singh further stated, “Sonam Wangchuk observed a hunger strike, Abhijeet Dipke led the movement, and crores of young people came out onto the streets to support it. The youth had one clear demand: the Education Minister must resign, and there would be no compromise on anything less.”

Sanjay Singh noted that this is the first time in 12 years that a minister has resigned, whereas during the farmers’ movement, even after the son of the Minister of State for Home ran over and killed five farmers, the minister did not resign. Congratulating the youth on their struggle, he urged them to channel their strength and energy in a positive direction. “The issue that began with paper leaks will now move towards employment, and the youth must ensure that they get jobs and that the government is held accountable and responsible towards them,” he asserted.

Senior AAP leader and former Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia congratulated the country’s students and youth, saying that they had achieved what seemed unimaginable just a few days ago. “You have secured Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation. The youth and students of this country have broken Narendra Modi’s arrogance,” he added.

Manish Sisodia added, “Just four days ago, PM Narendra Modi was using Delhi Police batons to crack the heads of these young people, break students’ legs, mistreat them, and beat them with cruelty as though they were animals. Today, that same PM Modi has been forced to seek the resignation of his corrupt Education Minister. This is your great victory. Heartiest congratulations to all the students and protesters.”

Manish Sisodia emphasised that Dharmendra Pradhan did not voluntarily resign; rather, the children and students of this country compelled him to resign. “A resignation would truly have meant something if, when the NEET scam took place and 22 students died by suicide, a responsible Prime Minister had sought the Education Minister’s resignation at that very moment. Today, it is the country’s Gen Z that has forced an arrogant Prime Minister to remove his Education Minister,” he added.

Manish Sisodia noted, “The country needs a large-scale education revolution. Freedom from the paper leak mafia is its first step, and the youth have won that battle after enduring baton charges and protesting in the rain and humid weather. This is only the first battle. It will give birth to a new movement for education reforms.” Five to ten years from now, when India is undertaking major education reforms and moving ahead of the world, he said, this movement will be remembered as the foundation stone of that transformation.

Senior AAP leader Gopal Rai said, “This is a major victory for the country’s student and youth movement. The Modi government remained adamant even after 22 students lost their lives following the NEET paper leak and students stayed on the streets in scorching heat for the past one and a half months. Sonam Wangchuk was placed under house arrest after a 20-day hunger strike.”

Gopal Rai further stated, “On July 20, students were brutally lathi-charged, tear gas shells were fired, and many suffered broken arms, legs, and head injuries, yet the Prime Minister did not listen. Now that this movement has become nationwide, the Modi government’s arrogance has had to bow. Over the past 12 years, every voice has been crushed through authoritarianism, but students defeated every conspiracy of the government. This is a victory for democracy, the Constitution, Jantar Mantar, and the youth of the country.”

AAP’s Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “The BJP government took great pride in the fact that no one in its ranks ever resigned. While major opposition parties failed to break that arrogance, the country’s Gen Z and the young generation aged 16 to 18 succeeded. They compelled such a powerful and arrogant government to bow. Dharmendra Pradhan, a heavyweight minister behind whom the entire government was said to be standing, ultimately had to resign. This, in itself, sends a powerful message.” He saluted the youth, saying they had accomplished what no one else could.

Saurabh Bharadwaj said this battle was not an easy one, and asserted, “When the youth of the country sat in protest against Narendra Modi, they were at different times labelled agents of America, agents of China, recipients of foreign funding, and anti-national.” He added that even opposition political parties branded these young protesters as the RSS’s B-Team.

The AAP Delhi state cheif further said, “These protesters received no support from either the BJP or the Congress. The only support they received came from the country’s 16-year-olds, 18-year-olds, and 25-year-old youth, and it was these young people who made this possible. One of the BJP’s strongest and most influential leaders, Dharmendra Pradhan, had to resign, and even the Prime Minister, who usually dominates the major media, was forced to release a reel at midnight.”

Meanwhile, senior AAP leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Atishi said, “The country’s youth power has emerged victorious. Dharmendra Pradhan had to resign. PM Modi’s arrogance had to bow before Gen Z. I salute every protester.”

When youth unite, even those in power are forced to answer: Ankush Narang

Senior AAP leader and Leader of the Opposition in the MCD Ankush Narang wrote on X, “The voices of the country’s students have finally prevailed. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned. This is a victory for the students’ struggle, unity, and democratic voice. When young people unite and stand up for their rights, even those in power are compelled to answer.”

Senior AAP leader and Kondli MLA Kuldeep Kumar said, “The saying, ‘The world bows, but someone has to make it bow,’ has been proved by this country’s Gen Z. They made a dictator bow who believed that no one could force him to do so. To crush this movement, it was linked with Naxalism, Khalistan, Pakistan, and China, but every tactic employed by the government failed.”

Kuldeep Kumar added, “Gen Z has shown that when those leading the struggle are Gen Z, even a dictator is forced to bow. Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation is a massive victory for all the youth, Gen Z, and the people of the country. The Modi government should understand that it must not become intoxicated by the arrogance of power, because even an ordinary person can shake the foundations of its rule.”
