Shravan Prasang Music Workshop Begins

Lucknow, Aug 2026 : The seven-day online Shravan Prasang Music Workshop, organised by the Lok Sanskriti Shodh Sansthan in connection with the birth anniversary of Goswami Tulsidas, began on Sunday. The workshop, titled “God Adopted Hulsi Firen”, is being conducted under the guidance of senior musician Mrs. Asha Srivastava.

Dr. Sudha Dwivedi, Secretary of the institute, said the workshop, which began on August 2, will continue daily until August 8. Participants will be trained in Tulsidas bhajans as well as traditional folk songs associated with the holy month of Shravan. The workshop will also focus on the nuances of their emotions, pronunciation and presentation.

She said the objective of the workshop is to connect the younger generation with the cultural and devotional traditions of Goswami Tulsidas and encourage the preservation of Indian music and folk culture.

On the first day of the workshop, participants practised “Tu Dekhi Dekhi Ri Pathik Param Sundar Dou,” a composition from Gitavali by Goswami Tulsidas. The verse poignantly depicts the spontaneous and deeply emotional expressions of village women upon seeing Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshmana as they depart for the forest.

More than two dozen participants from different age groups are taking part in the workshop through the online platform.

Dr. Dwivedi said the songs prepared during the workshop will be presented at a Lok Chaupal programme to be organised as part of the Tulsidas Jayanti fortnight celebrations.

Certificates will also be presented to all participants at the conclusion of the workshop.
