New Delhi, August 2026 : Bharatiya Janata Party MLA and Delhi Government spokesperson Shri Harish Khurana said that Aam Aadmi Party’s Delhi convenor Saurabh Bharadwaj has levelled allegations of a bicycle scam in Delhi solely on the basis of a baseless complaint made by a private company. He said the real objective behind these allegations is to divert the attention of the people of Delhi, Punjab and the rest of the country from the Punjab school bag scam and six separate exam paper leak cases, and to shield Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Mann. According to Shri Khurana, Arvind Kejriwal and AAP leaders have, in fact, lost their mental balance after their defeat in Delhi.

Harish Khurana alleged that the Punjab Government designed tailor-made tender conditions that effectively kept all local companies in the state out of the bidding process. He claimed that the government then purchased four lakh school bags from a Delhi-based company for free distribution to Class XI and XII students using public money. According to him, the bags were made in AAP’s party colours, yellow and blue, and even carried the photograph of the Chief Minister. He said distributing bags in party colours to Class XI and XII students was, in a way, comparable to trying to influence students who would become first-time voters after turning 18 in next year’s Punjab Assembly elections. He further said that school bag manufacturers and traders in Punjab are upset because the AAP government purchased four lakh school bags from outside the state at arbitrary prices.

Shri Harish Khurana asserted that there has been no bicycle scam in Delhi. He said the Delhi Government procured the bicycles for the city’s daughters through a completely transparent process. However, he alleged that AAP leaders have always acted against the interests of Delhi, and that making absurd and baseless allegations reflects their mindset. He added that bicycles are available in different models and with different features, and that prices in the Delhi market generally range from ₹4,000-5,000 to ₹40,000-50,000. He categorically stated that there has been no bicycle scam in Delhi. Instead, he alleged, Punjab has witnessed a school bag scam as well as multiple exam paper leak cases, over which protests are taking place in both Delhi and Punjab, with continuous demands for action. He claimed that Saurabh Bharadwaj is now using a commercial complaint as the basis for making unfounded allegations of a scam in an attempt to divert public attention in Punjab and across the country.
