RSS Leader Calls Delhi Student Protest ‘Unconstitutional’, Urges Deeper Study of Its Ideological Roots

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Maharashtra), Aug. 2026 : Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sah-Sarkaryavah Atul Limaye has described the recent student protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar as “unconstitutional” and “anti-national”, calling for a deeper examination of the forces and ideas that, he said, are influencing such movements.

Speaking at an event organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on Sunday, Limaye said the protest should not be viewed simply through the lens of political opposition or as an “anti-BJP” movement. Instead, he argued that it should be assessed in the broader context of constitutional values and national interests.

“Do not look at it solely from an ‘anti-BJP’ perspective,” Limaye said, urging people to view the agitation as a movement that he claimed had been “weaponised against the Constitution” and used as a tool to oppose the constitutional framework.

He further described it as a movement raised against the nation and India, and said society needed to examine the nature of such forces carefully before reaching conclusions about their objectives and implications.

Limaye called for a serious and detailed study of the movement, particularly its underlying mindset, ideological influences and stated or unstated objectives. He maintained that a deeper understanding of the forces involved would help citizens assess their potential impact on India’s democratic and constitutional framework.

The RSS leader also highlighted the importance of young people in shaping the country’s future. He said India’s youth would play a decisive role in realising the vision of transforming the country into a developed nation.

However, Limaye said that the discussion should not be limited to the size or strength of youth participation, but should also focus on the values and aspirations guiding young people.

“What kind of youth power do we need? What values should they possess? What dreams should they harbour? What songs should be on their lips?” he asked, stressing the need for a careful discussion on the direction of the younger generation.

He reiterated that student movements should not be evaluated merely from a political perspective. According to him, such agitations must also be examined in relation to constitutional principles, national interests and the ideological influences that shape young minds.

Limaye’s comments come amid continuing public debate over student activism, campus politics and the role of youth movements in India’s democratic discourse. His remarks sought to shift the focus from immediate political interpretations of the Delhi protest towards what he described as its wider constitutional, national and ideological implications.
